Also I would certainly label 10 Cloverfield Lane as horror. I mean being Stockholm syndromed in a bunker with a terrifying possibly child-murdering mad man is pretty horrific. Not to mention the lady with her face melting off. It was definitely the movie I enjoyed the most this year. Goodman had such an electric performance I was engaged throughout. Hence why I put it as my MOTY, and Horror of the year.

The visit. The Reveal caught me completely off guard and I found it much scarier than if the movie went took a more supernatural approach

The original TCM is my favorite movie of all-time. Growing up, my cousin owned a movie rental store and He let me rent whatever I wanted. TCM on VHS was is my hands every weekend it seemed.

I was pretty horrified by the V/H/S movies. It takes a lot for me to be disturbed by gore, but those movies did it for me.

Strangers was always a good thrill for me. Basically bc that shit happens in real life.

And the first Sinisiter movie was probably the last movie that terrified me.

    Watched The Good Neighbor.

I wouldn't consider it a horror movie, but it was under my horror category on Netflix so I watched it last night with my GF.

I thought that was actually pretty good and recommend it if you haven't watched it yet.

Tbh I can't remember the last movie that really scared me. Usually movies just make me jump scare which I don't really count cause it's more reacting to a loud sudden noise. I'm sure I'm blanking on something obvious tho.

It did legitimately creep me out on Autopsy of Jane Doe when they opened her eyes and left them that way. I always wondered if I could be a mortician but looking into her eyes I was like nooope cause I just wanted to look away. And then I kept waiting for her to do something so it was unsettling and I was a bit on edge lol.

I bet! Yesterday I was talking to someone who used to perform cremations and she kept apologizing for being weird and I was like "no this is the most fascinating thing ever!!"

  15. Don't know what recent stuff really terrified me, but Martyrs is probably the one that really shook me the most. There's a scene in The Taking of Deborah Logan that freaked me out.

    top five for me tbh

bout to watch Lights Out. tbh i don't have many hopes for this, the director was always popular for his short films and i don't know if that'll translate well to a full-length movie... he's gonna really have to switch it up throughout the course of 80 minutes as well as having solid fleshed out writing, neither of which i'm super convinced of

I think Lights Out is nice for when u want that comforting formulaic horror but the characters were a lil different enough from the usual tropes that it made it a lil more interesting. I actually don't care for the ending tho. I wish the outcome would've been different.

The last movie I remember being super freaked out by was Unfriended but this was also before I started really enjoying horror films.

Just out of curiosity, are there any posters from AP here? MikeyHorror and Morrost were the two main ones, I think.

yeah Lights Out just wasn't very good, soooo formulaic. it was real clear fifteen minutes into the movie when they reused the gimmick scene from the original short film that there wasn't gonna be enough to go around lol. normally i kinda ironically like these types of movies but i think they have to be older, early 2000s era
