Hmm, interesting. I think the weekly format for talk shows seems to be working pretty well. I've always enjoyed Conan so it will be interesting to see his format switched up.

  2. I agree that late night is too crowded right now. This could be good for Conan.

Has the weekly late night show format been around for awhile or are they more of a recent thing?

That is unfortunate to hear, especially since O'Brien has been the most talented one remaining since Letterman's retirement.

  6. Oh well okay then

  7. I am so done with Once Upon a Time's bullshit. Just the same thing over and over again.

  9. Since Quantico is on ABC, it is full of diversity. I commend it for including an Asian character who struggles with being gay and religious. However, since Quantico is on ABC, it is also full of what I'd call "drama for the sake of drama," especially in the flashback storyline: a lot of the conflicts between the characters in the past are meant to make us sympathize with their plight in the future, but it has the opposite effect on me of making almost everyone pretty insufferable when they're at each other's throats for no good reason. The show is only good when things are actually moving forward, which it only does half the time in both the flashback and present timelines. Despite my love for nonlinear storytelling, between this, Arrow, and Once Upon a Time, I'm getting really tired of the present-flashback-present format. So far, I think the current, second season is weaker than the first simply because the characters aren't as likable: when you like them, you hope they aren't the bad guy, but when you don't like anyone, you don't care about the mystery surrounding their motivations that the story depends on for its suspense.

The first season of House of Cards is a different story. I don't like anyone, but I like that I don't like anyone. I like watching terrible people be terrible to each other. While it's not my favorite of even the high-brow shows, I enjoy how extremely well it's crafted.

I gave up on keeping up with my shows week-to-week because it's so hard to keep track of what's what episode to episode when you're watching that many shows. Since Hulu only makes the five most recent episodes available, I'll be watching them five episodes at a time; in the meantime, I'll hopefully be able to make more progress on the shows I'm catching up on--House of Cards, Homeland, Mad Men, Fargo, Penny Dreadful, The West Wing--which I've neglected for the past few months.

Office Space is one of my favorite movies.

  11. Anyone seen Happy Hour in here?

It's playing around here next weekend and I'm leaning towards going. Runtime is obviously a bit daunting but it seems like it'll be worth it.

Theater's doing one short break and one longer dinner break for it too.

Haven't seen it but have heard nothing but amazing things about it. I'm going to try to set some time aside and watch it soon.

Saw the recent Jungle Book movie, and was pretty impressed. Plus it was an added bonus hearing what it would sound like if Gustavo Fringe, and Stringer Bell had a conversation.

Is Friday Night Lights worth watching? Do I need to see the movie first?

  15. Yes. No.

  16. It's taken me at least three years to finish the first three seasons of Mad Men, and only now do I finally begin to feel excited about where it's going. It's not a bad show by any means, and I know every part of the first three seasons was essential to get to this point, but man, it felt like such a trudge at times.

To be fair, if the field of play La La Land introduced was how hard it was to get their movie made, Deadpool took 10 years to get made

A theatre relatively close to me is finally getting Moonlight this weekend. Just bought a ticket for Friday night.

Should I try to double feature and see La La Land or Fences while I'm there?
