What do you mean by "in" your receiver?

    I use a 5.1 system so there's a sub if that's what you're asking.

I just meant like, hooking up a subwoofer to your audio rig

Stopped by my local shop to pre-order the Menz record so I could attend their in-store there. Decided to pick up JEW's Clarity and they gave me a free Sure And Certain 7". Funny enough I actual found one for 3 bucks on discogs today. So if anyone wants to pay shipping I'll send you my extra when it comes to me.

Got my Xmas bonus last month so I've bought a fair few records since then. Picked up The Dangerous Summer's Reach for the Sun, Ingrid Michaelson's Lights' Out, Biffy Clyro's Opposites, and Oathbreakers Rheia. Got the new Nine Inch Nails ep and The Fragile Repress. I also bought Things Fall Apart by NIN as a gift for my mates birthday but I really want to keep it for myself (but I won't) haha. Fuck knows how much I've speant on all that.

Just snagged a copy of Ocean Avenue and Lights And Sounds for under $75 total. Pretty thrilled to complete my Yellowcard collection!

Lights And Sounds isn’t really, but there aren’t many copies floating around out there... Recently I’ve seen it go for $30-40 and I got a copy for $20. Ocean Avenue (the LP, not the 7”) is pretty difficult to find for anything reasonable.

Absolutely in love with my new set up. There is another identical speaker about 3 feet from the one you can see there.

what are everyones best methods for keeping static under control? from what little knowledge i have, its hard to keep static minimal in cold / dry climates (IE - CANADA)... but, do any of yall have things you do to prevent static?

Humidifier. Use a brush on your record before you play them and buy some replacement anti-static inner sleeves

Yeah I've seen on the internet people recommend humidifiers. I should look for a cheap one.

A record brush and a cork mat do the trick for me.

Forgive me for not wanting to read back in this thread.

I currently have one of those Encore Technology, multi-format turntables with built-n speakers that also has a cassette player, radio, cd player, etc. The only real way to add speakers is via an AUX cord. I know, not great. It was a gift a few years ago.

I would like to put together a better set up and was wondering if anyone could help me figure out what my options are. First of all, I am thinking of this turntable or one like it.

My first question is, can I get a setup with good sound quality if I don't want to spend $400-$500 dollars on a set of speakers, a subwoofer, and a receiver, of which I currently have none? Is it essential to have a traditionally wired speaker setup with speaker wire or are active speakers good enough, and if they are is the price difference really worth not getting a receiver and doing it traditionally?

I also wanted to ask if a bluetooth capable record player is worth considering; am I going to be sacrificing major sound quality if I use wireless speakers?

To me Bluetooth negates any added sound quality you'd get from vinyl. It is possible to plug it into active speakers. I had done it at one time but I can't remember how now.

You just need active speakers and a turntable with RCA cables I think.

    Motel. Money. Murder. Madness.

I say this with all due respect and with no intended elitest tone, but if you want to pick up this hobby, be prepared to spend some money.

The turntable should be your biggest investment, as an amp and speakers can be had for a relatively cheap price, and you can always upgrade later. Also, cheap amps and speakers won't run the risk of harming your records.

Look for a vintage table, you can find pretty nice ones for 150 or maybe even cheaper. But buying new, if you aren't spending 180+ on a turntable, it's probably garbage. Save save save, I promise you'll thank yourself later.

I spent $100 on an Audio Technica ATLP-60 and have had no issues. Though, I'll be honest, I'm not like in love with vinyl as a hobby. I'm more of a collector who likes to play a record maybe once a week.
