Don't wanna get ahead of myself, but fun thought experiment: if Thursday wrote a new record, would we expect something atmospheric, brash classic Thursday, or totally new?

  2. I think it'd be pretty straight forward and powerful

Atmospheric, with hints of old Thursday + something new.

Hopefully it would be a continuation of No Devolución

As much as I'd love to hear a continuation of their sound on ND, I'd expect something more along the lines of ACBTLD and CE considering how much older material they've been playing this year.

An ACBTLD & CE mix would be stellar.

It's not they'd just neglect Andrew too. I mean, when he got brought in and got a creative say they made ACBTLD, so I doubt we'd get something more straightforward like FC or WATT

at the same time though i feel like they'll do what they've done at these reunion shows and cater to their old audience a bit, idk

Yeah, ND is def an outlier and not indicative of what their next one would sound like. I think they'd all want to make music together again, and Geoff very deliberately took the hands off approach on that one. That being said, Geoff does seem to personally like that one best so who knows? But I'm echoing the ACBTLD people, that seems more likely for new Thursday

I mean, the next one might sound like it considering we have nothing concrete to actually believe it would otherwise. Also, Geoff's personal favorite is Full Collapse

It's not an outlier at all it's a natural evolution of their sound

Anyway I hate playing this game with any band. Their next album will sound like whatever they make

For real, I'll be ecstatic if we get anything.

I mean in terms of creation and how it came about it seems like an outlier, sonically it makes sense but I think the method of creation was really influential to how the end product came out and how much spacier it is at times.
Yeah whatever they make will be cool

All their albums were made under their own unique circumstances

Are there any in-depth articles out there on the recording process for their albums, particularly their later ones? Aside from Wikipedia and the Kill The House Lights documentary I haven't read much since I came on board about a year before they broke up

Oooh, I thought for some reason Geoff wrote/contributed to most of the songs up until City or CE or smth? Thought there was a guitar he sold a while back that he wrote a bunch of the older Thursday songs at least. I concede my ignorance here lol

Just look up interviews. For no dev, they had booked time with Dave but didn't prepare any material beforehand, they almost cancelled but Dave convinced them to come anyway and they wrote and recorded the album on the spot in about two weeks

That's not what I'm talking about. There were new things with No Dev, there were new things with every album. Thus none are really an outlier. They were always changing the way they approached things

I actually do remember reading that five years ago. It'd be really interesting to re-read them now though. Thanks!
