it sucks that John Landis was responsible for the deaths of three people including two kids because he weaseled around child labor laws and ignored safety precautions

You mean the Twilight Zone movie fiasco? Shit was crazy when I found out about it.

Netflix's horror section is notoriously awful, but I watched The Rite today (I think it was recently added) and it's a decent horror flick. I recommend it.

I don't think it's awful at all. It's not a place I'd go for a wide selection of older movies, but it currently has The Invitation, Hush, They Look Like People, The Wailing, I Am Not A Serial Killer.... it's a great place for indie movies like that to get a decent audience

I just finished The Eyes of My Mother and damn. I really liked that. All sorts of messed up. My favorite kind of horror: what humans are capable of doing to each other.

  9. The Autopsy of Jane Doe was cool. Brian Cox and Emile Hersch were great in it. Just saw that it was directed by the guy that did Trollhunter, which I loved! André Ovredal, definitely gonna seek out whatever he does next.

Yeah and they're interested in making original horror movies/shows, I've got no problem with Netflix when it comes to horror

  12. I thought I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House was pretty good, so I'm interested in more Netflix horror. I've always thought their selection was great for the most part.

I think their selection is prob fine but I watch them too quickly and often so when I want something I haven't seen it sucks. But that's more about my lack of life than anything.

Carnage Park was alright. Kinda just plods along after the halfway mark.

I'm surprised so many are content with their horror section. Sure some of the indies are great, but as an avid horror fan, I've watched many duds on the platform and there aren't many big box office horror titles in the section either.

I've never watched anything on there without reading some buzz about it or seeing a positive review. if you're just taking chances on random 2 star movies, yeah you're gonna see some bad ones

If anyone you have seen Autopsy of Jane Doe, did you feel as if the tone of it changed about 3/4 of the way through? It was really creepy up to a certain point.

On the topic of Netflix, if you are unsatisfied just get Shudder

How good are they in terms of acquiring indie stuff?

Very. The database is full of underground and older cult/b movie stuff. I did the free trial and was very impressed with the curation, forgot to renew and subscribe but I am definitely going to.

    Thanks.

Anyone here seen Night of Something Strange or Beyond the Gates? They both have an indie feel to them but I'm hesitant to waste my time.

Probably going to do a trial of Shudder soon. I just want to see if there's a one month trial out there instead of the one week trial advertised on the site
