Don't know if this has been on many lists, but y'all need to check out the Lucy Dacus album. I added it to my Apple Music forever ago and only just started playing it this month. It is so good.

 

This is the first year I've really felt like a music fan. So many new genres I grew to love and so much music discovered. Years past I probably would have struggled to make a Top 10, but I've listened to close to 100 albums this year, most of which I really enjoyed, and I've still got a huge list left to go through. Thank you Chorus for helping me truly find a love for music, here's my Top 40 with some other things no one really cares about.

Its a song that means a lot to me, personally. I see it as a song about someone moving on peacefully into death, and how "the things you grow are set to die/you cling to them with knuckles white". I've lost both my grandpas this year along with my aunt, I just graduated college, and a lot of my best friends are starting to move on to the next stage of their life, so its just a lot of different things this year that make me feel like this song really defined my year. The morning I learned my grandpa had passed, this song actually came on shuffle when I got into my car that day, and it gave me a sense of peace.

On top of that though, I think the song is really amazing and super underrated. I love everything about it.
