Little man is just over a year now and we're slowly introducing goats milk into his breastmilk. His shits have been absolutely disgusting and I feel so bad for the kid. Trying to decide if we should give him less goats milk to give him more time to adjust.

 

Any particular reason for Goats Milk as opposed to Cow?

 

little dude has been on a Daddy's boy kick lately, especially when he's tired. He'll just crawl in my lap and cuddle. I love it so much!

 

There's a few reasons, but mainly because our nutrionist and pediatrician recommended it, but here is a few I found online


less allergenic proteins
The protein clumps that are formed by the action of the stomach acids on the protein are called curds. The softer the curd, the quicker it passes through the stomach. Goat's milk protein forms a softer curd, which makes it easier to digest. This could be an advantage for infants who spit up a lot or who have gastroesophageal reflux (GER). Goat's milk contains only trace amounts of the allergenic protein found in cow's milk—alpha-S1 casein. However, goat's milk and cow's milk both contain another type of allergenic protein, beta-lactoglobulin, which is why some infants who are allergic to cow's milk may also be allergic to goat's milk

a more digestible fat
The fat globules in goat's milk are easier to digest because they contain a higher proportion of short and medium-chain fatty acids. It's a biochemical quirk that allows the intestinal enzymes to digest the fat easier. Cow's milk contains more of the longer-chain fatty acids that require more work for the intestines to digest

slightly less lactose
While both cow's milk and goat's milk contain the sugar lactose, goat's milk contains slightly less (4.1 percent versus 4.7 percent in cow's milk). It's possible that this is a slight advantage for infants who are lactose intolerant

Cool cool, I legitimately wasn't aware of any of that. Is he lactose intolerant?

My dude will eat/drink anything and everything so we really haven't had to pay attention to anything like this.

 

We wouldn't know, I suppose. He's only ever had breastmilk, water, and wheatgrass juice. We just introduced milk - but we also found out last night, her mother gave him a straight bottle of goats milk. She misunderstand we wanted her to mix the goats milk with breast milk. We'll probably mix for a week or so before we go straight milk. Wife is excited she doesn't have to pump anymore!

That's awesome. I've tried to get Sophie into games and she's not even a little bit interested haha

 

Aeryn loves the Lego Marvel/DC/Jurassic World games. She's also playing one of the Kingdom Hearts games though I don't know if she's going to be able to beat the boss she's on

 

Can't figure out who's having more fun.

I could barely beat some KH bosses when I played them in HS. I got stuck on the final boss and the Clock Tower douchebag

 

I put it in beginner mode but she still needs to figure out how to avoid the attacks. I tried telling her what to do but she's still struggling

 

I'm hoping she's still interested when she's older! Always wanted to be able to share that hobby with my kids.

 

I thought my daughter was so smart for fighting out how to navigate YouTube at that age. I mean she is smart, just saying

I think there was a mobile game she was really good at. Angry Birds maybe

Took my 2.5 year old to blink-182 a week after that was taken.

He hated the whole show until the lights went down and "Feeling This" came on. Didn't take any videos at the show. Just had a real life moment. But he can sing about half of their live catalog already.

One of my favorite things is watching my son and dog start to become best buds...it's amazing.

 

Damn SO much hair!

 

Isn't it crazy how quickly they learn to use devices? My son is a master on the iPad, even learned how to skip youtube ads

 

juice + monster truck = happy kid

 

Yeah, he has a full head haha. Always had a lot of hair though. We've already had to trim it twice.
