Anyone else see this before? This is my first time and I could've sworn I've seen almost every video over the years.

A question to the people that don't mind that they are releasing a Deluxe Edition of California: Would you rather this be a separate B-Side album or do you like the fact that it's a Deluxe version?

If they are following in the vibe/sound California, which I think they are, then deluxe

If they really have as many songs as they say they do, I'd imagine the reason its still being pushed as a deluxe edition rather than a separate ep/album is: a) want the numbers to help them get a platinum record again; and/or b) something to do with the legal arrangement they have with Tom.

That's cool. It's weird to me that they a recording new songs for it. I like deluxe editions to gather up all the b-sides, live tracks, demos, etc from a certain time period. And the only time I like deluxe editions are when they are released a same time as the regular album drops. Unless it comes out like 10-20 years later.

It's definitely a financial reason. Any newly recorded music should be them moving forward. Then again, this is the same band that was ok with releasing 3 different versions of TOYPAJ with different bonus tracks, so super fans would buy 3 copies.

I can't even think of any albums that have deluxe editions with newly recorded original songs on them. I've seen new acoustics, live tracks, remixes, etc. I'm sure it has happened before but it's just super weird to me.

  9. Taylor Swift's "platinum edition" of Fearless had a bunch of new songs on it. That's really the only one I can think of that had more than just a small handful of new tracks on a deluxe version.

WAs there a reason for adding the new songs? Like did they create a more cohesive album? Or did they just throw them on the back end?

I think a deluxe is kind of a dumb idea because super fans will buy it but casual people that already have California might be confused/not care

  12. On the Taylor Swift one, they actually tacked all the bonus tracks on the front end. The actual album didn't start until track 9 or something. I thought that was weird.

haha that is weird. Clearly trying to get fans to re-buy the album.

Does anyone have some hot takes on this deluxe edition situation? I'm just curious to see what other fans think. Especially if they already bought the OG edition.

Fine with me as I can just download the songs that I don't have. no biggie.

If it's in the same vein of California to a degree, makes sense to me. A whole new album is too soon when California can still do more especially with the Grammy nomination. And they had plans to release more songs at the end of the year regardless of the success. I think an EP or a new album would be more confusing than just doing the deluxe edition. Idk it doesn't bother me but I'm one of the superfans that bought all three versions of TOYPAJ lol.

I hate the 2 year album cycle. If an artist thinks they have a new albums worth of material ready to go then they should just put out a new album. A deluxe version of an album released less than a year after the original is just weird to me, especially when it's mostly brand new songs and not just demos/b-sides.

It was discussed a long while back in an interview about stuff they did before/early Feldman. I want to say 6/8 was that track, 90% sure. Which is on the deluxe as far as we know

I guess I don't care whether it's called a deluxe edition of California or a brand new album because bottom line is we're going to get new blink songs. I do think it makes sense that it's going to be part of the deluxe edition of California consider they haven't toured that album outside of the US and Canada.

I'm just happy we don't have to wait 6 years for new music again. They can call it whatever they want i'll be buying it

  23. i hope they put all of the songs they've been working on onto it. all 14 or whatever.
