Arguing with my dad is a twofold struggle: 1. he's the most stubborn human being I've ever met, and 2. once he's done bulldozing you with "facts" (from Fox News, etc.), he'll bring in the moral/Bible-based high horse (which doesn't even make sense when talking about Donald fucking Trump) to stand on, and that's like arguing with a brick wall.

Re: Facebook, I deactivated mine a couple of months ago because I was so fed up with everyone's terrible fucking opinions, but I came back last week for reasons I can't even explain to myself. I've gotten a lot more trigger-happy with hiding/deleting/blocking, though, which has definitely improved the experience.

I haven't talked to my dad in two years. He texted me for my birthday at 6AM and called at midnight. Not really sure why he would think I'd answer either of them. Maybe try normal people hours.

Depending on which state you live in there is seriously no reason to vote for president.

This is such a fucking garbage year. None of us really want to, but since we somehow allowed Trump to happen, everyone under 40/with a brain NEEDS to vote to squash that shit.

Ehh, yeah that sounds rough. I always know the conversation is coming to an impasse when the Bible gets brought in (and thankfully my dad doesn't do that, at all). Those strict religious types can be so firm in what they believe their faith mandates that there is just no wiggle room as far as social issues go. Which I think is a shame, because my dad is a Christian and has been for years, but is pro-LGBT, pro-women's rights, and so on.

I think my record for unfollowing/deleting people on Facebook is like, 30 people in one day. I'm pretty sure that was the day Trump won our primary...

It literally breaks my heart knowing how many people in my church would vote for Trump over Clinton as if it's their Christian duty.

My dad is a typical Fox News-loving redneck, but I think he might not vote if the candidate is Trump? He hates Trump and like Kasich best (literally dislikes Cruz just 'cause he talked about video games, lol), so I'd like to believe he'd be turned off enough by Trump. But, he also hates Hilary and liberalism, so maybe Fox News would sway him. :pantherworried:

I'm just thankful that I have a couple close friends who aren't crazy politically, one whom I agree with on most things of that sort.

To be fair Trump's entire policy so far is a brick wall so it makes sense

The idea that a Christian can't be pro-LGBT and women's rights (and has to be Republican) is one of the most frustrating things I deal with every day. It sucks.

I've said it before but my FB feed is pretty alright due to the fact that I limit my online interactions with white people to this site and of course before this, AP.

Not saying my FB friends ain't problematic at all. I just don't see the worst of it.

I don't think so, it's just not voting for people who want to quash LGBTQA and reproductive rights which for me is a no brainer

kasich has been able to rebrand himself in this campaign amid the trump circus, but his reputation was always very hardline and there's very little that separates himself in terms of economic policy or social policy from where republicans have been for decades. for instance he just gutted planned parenthood in ohio. he just appears more sane and in tune because he's not calling for a 40 foot wall along the mexican border or talking about carpetbombing damascus. he's actually very similar to bush in 2000 in terms of policy and appeal. bush struck the same kinda cord, campaigning as a practical, compassionate conservative who you wanted to have a beer with.

Yeah, absolutely. I know so many inclusive, welcoming, socially-aware Christians that it really bums me out when I encounter the staunch Fox News breed. Thankfully my city is a *relatively* progressive place so there aren't a TON of those.

I wonder if we'll ever get away from people who think all Planned Parenthood does is perform abortions.

Of course we won't, what do you think this is, Canada?

  21. Pretty sure my parents voted for Obama in the last two elections. I think I'll have to convince them to vote for Bernie over Hillary, though, which shouldn't be too hard.

They haven't released the US portion of the Panama Papers yet have they? I wonder if Obama, Trump, etc will be on the list.

A few months ago I went to a Planned Parenthood rally. I was exactly one week early and had to drive 40 minutes back home in shame and wait a week for the actual event.
