    Thanks.

Any opinon on the best sounding press of TDAG or are they all the same?

I second this. I get 90% of my records from Amazon, Discogs, and Bull Moose since I don’t have a local record store nearby. Amazon is usually very price competitive, but if I’m looking for a specific variant of something I typically go elsewhere. Many Amazon listings either do not list the variant or do not list the variant correctly, so that’s something to keep in mind.

Not sure about the best sounding press of TDAG. I only have the tour exclusive pressing (transparent blue), and it sounds great.

When I saw them maybe 6 years ago they had some Gold left from an AUS tour I think - didn't buy it bc figured it'd get fucked up. I was right - but still wish I bought it. Also it was a tour of 4 PA dates and 1 MD date and they had a poster. Would love to find that at some point

As much as I love my tour pressing, I've always wanted one of those sea foam green variants. I remember when they went on sale. I was this close to purchasing it, but money was really tight at the time. I've regretted it ever since.

Also, if you can, try and get one of the versions that has a gatefold sleeve.

  6. What are people making of this?

    "Hey all - Paul here

First of all, I want to thank all Mutemath fans for being one of the most dedicated groups of folks a band could have in their corner. So many of you have been there since the very beginning and have allowed us to be a part of your lives through this music for the past ten or so years. I can promise you we've never taken lightly the fact that anyone would reach into their pocket to part with their hard earned money and willfully place it in our hands so that we can live a dream. It's something I've had long drag down/knock out arguments with managers, labels and agents alike since we started doing this full time. It's certainly not the most flattering part of running a band.

I'm fully aware of the debate that has started over the price of this vinyl repress. Quite honestly, it had started over a year ago behind closed doors in our camp during countless conference calls when we first made it a mission to figure out how to pull off an official repress of the S/T vinyl for the 10th anniversary and stop seeing fans forced to pay upwards of $300 for it. I won't burden everyone with the bullet points, but I hope you can trust me when I tell you this issue mattered and still matters to us.

All I can most meaningfully say at this point is Thank You. To the fans who graciously bought one of our most prized pieces of work that started this whole thing for us and were willing to kick in the extra amount which, quite honestly, will go straight to us, the band: we and our families are eternally grateful. So now we'll get back to work, and promise to keep you posted on the progress of the new album which is coming along swimmingly.

Much love and have a happy holiday everyone!"

maybe they had to buy the record rights back from the label and had an exorbant licensing fee

  9. Ya I've heard that thrown out there by fans. But if they own the rights again now why would they market this as the absolute last pressing? Outside of just trying to sell it out at all costs I guess

  10. cwhit

    still emperor emo Prestigious

they could have been only allowed the rights to one pressing? lots of weird things in licensing deals

  11. Ya that crossed my mind as well.

Not that I want artists to have to explain this sort of stuff to their fans in general, but it'd be nice in an exceptional case like this if they could just come out and say sorry y'all but we're not really making much if any profit on this it just is what it is

    Oh well

The idea that they had to buy the rights to the album, but could only do so cost-efficiently for a single pressing seems plausible to me. In a weird turn of events, I think I got a copy this morning somehow even after it supposedly sold out... I can only guess that someone cancelled their order or something. Hoping they don’t cancel my order. They took my money though!

Very doubtful, but did anyone happen to pick up the 12" of Bay Faction's S/T that they wouldn't mind getting rid of? I contacted the label and they don't plan on doing another pressing until Q3ish of next year. Can't find any on eBay or Amazon either. Just shoot me a PM!

Expecting the copy of MuteMath’s S/T repress that I somehow obtained to arrive today! Sadly I won’t be able to play it for a month because I’ll be home and not at school where my turntable and everything is.
