Complete look at the ResurrXion books: Everything You Need to Know About Marvel 'X-Men' ResurrXion

All-New Wolverine is in the one promo image but not in any of these titles, and there's no word on if her title is continuing or if there's more to come. They do say that X-Men: Blue will gain members, upping the male-to-female ratio; hopefully she joins (rejoins?) that team instead of showing up in Weapon X or X-Men: Gold.

I think I'm gonna pick Generation X and X-Men: Blue to follow.

Finished Vision last night. Couldn't put it down. Loved it so much. Lemire's Moon Knight is pretty crazy right off the get go. Really enjoying it.

  4. Same with Vision! Awesome how that creative team could make you feel so much for characters that aren't "alive."

Did you read/do you have to read Ellis' run before Lemire's to jump on? I want to get into that since I've been loving Black Hammer and looking for more ongoing Lemire.

I'm really into Eclipse which is continuing to prove that I can pick up any Image series at random and love it.

I dug Ellis' run. It was kinda weird though because each issue was a standalone story and he was a different persona.

My favorite run had to be volume 3 from 2006. Some really brutal stuff in that run.

It's fantastic to start and goes down a bit when the team changes. Batwoman:Elegy is the place to definitely begin. It's not technically N52 but it's heavily referenced and fantastic. Then the N52 vol 1-4 are great with really cool art/layouts. Vols 5-6 are ok and have some cool ideas as well as Clayface's beginnings as a hero but don't live up to the rest of the series.

You answered so many questions for me, haha, I've been wondering if there was any lead up to Clayface being a hero because it felt like it came out of nowhere in Detective. And I was also very curious about Elegy, I'll read that next. I read the first trade and the art pretty much blew me away. So many multi page, gorgeous images.

Working my way through my Roger Stern Spider-Man omnibus, made lots of progress tonight. Currently 33 issues in; 19 to go. That final stretch will include the debut of Monica Rambeau, the original Hobgoblin storyline, "The Boy Who Collects Spider-Man," and with the last issue of the collection, the debut of black costume Spidey. Lots of goodness!

Funny how much Vulture is in here, but fitting in light of next year's film.

Another con day today! Pittsburgh's Steel City Con isn't anything special, but it's nice having a few per year, lol.

Not gonna do the big rundown of everything I got like I sometimes do (it wouldn't be as extensive as that insane haul last month from Wizard World), but I am quite happy with the Spider-Man clone stuff I got. I bought The Original Clone Saga (from the 70s and 80s) and the first two volumes of The Complete Ben Reilly Epic (which pick up after Peter retired and let Ben take over in the 90s, as Scarlet Spider and then as Spider-Man). Those 3 are cover price $39.99 each, and I spent just under $50 on all three!

I'm not super interested in all that complete 90s Clone Saga nonsense, which was way too convoluted, but I am excited to properly read through the stories with Ben Reilly front and center, especially with how much I loved the few random issues of it I had growing up. The art is all super-90s stylistically, lol, but should still be a blast. Also super cool to have the original clones stuff, which wasn't all that long after Death of Gwen Stacy; I'm always happy for more classic Spider-Man material.

I would say skip the last two volumes completely. The were really bad imo. Once DC squashed the idea of a gay marriage, the book completely fell apart.

Ugh just remembered usd rates have gone higher so our lcs were forced to increase their prices as well. Not by a lot but it adds up fairly quickly.

Probably will resort to trades now just to save money.

    Keep on the sunny side.

This is a pretty welcoming thread for newbies, so I'll go ahead and ask. What are some good Spider-man runs? (Homecoming trailer got me wanting some more Spidey). I loved Blue, I've read the first 20 issues of Ultimate, I've read some of the essential classic stuff like Death of Gwen Stacey, Kraven, etc. For more modern stuff, is the JMS run a good place to go next? I've heard mixed reviews.

@Tim would be your expert in that area.

If you're looking for something NOT Peter though definitely check out Ultimate Spider-Man Miles Morales

I haven't read as much of the JMS run as I should have, considering how much some people love it and how much I adore Spider-Man. It includes Sins Past, which is a garbage story revealing that Gwen Stacy had sex with Norman Osborn while she was still alive and secretly gave birth to twins in Europe. He also cowrote One More Day with Quesada, where Peter makes a deal with Mephisto trading his marriage with MJ for a restored secret identity and Aunt May. So, that's all trash. But, the beginning of the run I read was great, where Peter met Ezekiel and fought Morlun. So, at least check out the first trade, then decide from there?

My favorite modern long Spider-Man run is honestly all the Bendis Miles Morales run, which is still going. So, I HIGHLY recommend that. I never finished Superior Spider-Man, but from what I read of that, I definitely recommend it, too. Superior Foes of Spider-Man, which is a comedy series about Boomerang and other c-list Spidey villains, is fantastic and a must read for ALL Spidey fans. Spider-Man's Tangled Web was a great series where different creators told stories tangential to Spidey, sometimes one issue long, which you should look into.

If you specifically want to read high school Peter Parker, I don't get excited about that version of the character myself, but finishing Bendis' lengthy Ultimate run pre-Miles is a good idea. Also worth looking into the original Lee/Ditko material. I haven't read Untold Tales of Spider-Man, which was a 90s series set in the Lee/Ditko era with a similar feel, but I hear it's great. I don't read the recent series Spidey, by Robbie Thompson, but I hear good things about it and like Thompson's work on Silk a lot, so that's more high school material to look into.

If you want other classic Spider-Man stuff... The Lee/Romita era in the 60s after Ditko left is my personal favorite, definitive Spider-Man. I'm reading through Roger Stern's run in the 80s, and it's also a ton of fun and quintessential Spidey.

I hope some of that helps!

definitely finish Bendis' Peter Parker run, I read it probably yearly haha. and if you're still enjoying it, continue with Miles, also great stuff.

Saw someone mention Superior Foes of Spider-Man, man I love that comic haha. it's like ocean's eleven if they were really bad at their jobs.

and I have been reading the current run "Spidey" and I love it, I'm enjoying it more than the main Amazing Spider-Man run right now.

I checked out the first volume of Spidey from the library recently and look forward to reading it. Glad there's a fan. I've never really read a Peter related Spider-man story before

Huh. So All-New Wolverine is continuing into ResurrXion after all. Cool, wonder if I should consider catching up and following it again. Is anyone reading the current Enemy of the State arc? Is it good?

i may get better but we won't ever get well Prestigious

The Long Halloween was soooooooo good but I'm actually very unsold on that ending, particularly when we find out Gilda helped with Holiday duties. although it thematically made sense (good people driven to pursue "justice" in unhealthy ways by unrelenting evil), i found Gilda a much more interesting character as someone who was struggling to make sense of evil of Gotham City from the outside, who didn't have a personal stake in rectifying it like Harvey but was dramatically affected by it. fitting her into the crime spree breaks a lot of that, and it also just straight doesn't make sense given some of her and Harvey's interactions.

I hated the idea when I heard about it, then I read it... start to finish it was awesome. definitely read the few issues prior that lead into it as well.
