I'm going to assume you're at the Hinterlands since that's where the game really starts to open up? That area is sort of notorious for being a bit overwhelming and trapping players for hours and hours. An article from around the time of the game's release (whose suggestion I completely back up and used myself, as hard as it was for me to abandon my completionist tendencies):

still haven't played DA:I or 2 yet but Origins is one of my favorite games. loved the dense world, careful character development, and the flexible combat

I kind of feel like Lightning/Fang/Hope is the only viable team right now for wandering the open world portion of the game. Fog/Pain/Daze + Protect/Shell/Veil = Win. Sure, divided this way, the other three characters also have access to all six roles, but their abilities are more offensive, and, well, I keep dying, so.

edit: On second thought, once Vanille learns Curaja, that team would be pretty tough to beat as well, I'd imagine.

 

I just got slaughtered on the second mission twice in a row. Might continue on Rookie if it happens too often. On my 2nd playthrough of EU I lost all my fav soldiers. I don't want a repeat of that.

 

Downloaded The Last Gaurdian. So now with this, X-Com 2, and FF I'm gonna have to sideline some games(Rise of the Tomb Raider, Skyrim, BF1).

 

maintaining cover is bigger now than it was in one, especially with more aggressive flanking from enemy aliens.

Also use grenades often

Started Sleeping Dogs last night, holy shit is the fighting bad in that game. I stopped about an hour in and deleted it right off my HDD. Back to Battlefield 1.

 

It's pretty solid in my opinion, that is if you like the Arkham combat style. Learning some of the combos helps.

 

The issue is that it's not the Akrham combat style, which is next to flawless and fluid. There were times he was just standing there, I was pressing X to punch and he wasn't doing anything. When it works, it's quite nice - I like that you can grab and drag them and use envirornents to knock them out.

 

The Last Guardian is in my possession.

 

I still have to wait till next Friday to pick it up :(

 

I really enjoyed the combat in Sleeping Dogs. I didn't have the issues you had, which is odd

Did you play the remaster or whatever on Xbone? I mean it felt straight up broken. There would be times I'd mash "X" to hit and nothing would happen, he'd stand there with his fists up; the only way I'd fight it by hitting "Y" to do a parry move then he'd start punching again.
