I don't like Dragon Age: Inquisition at all. It's really painfully boring, especially when compared to other rpgs like Witcher 3 or Skyrim.

 

I did some reading up on Baldur's Gate, which I also haven't played, and it looks like in that game as well, you were able to control the entire party. So, from Baldur's Gate to Neverwinter Nights, Bioware went from 2D to 3D, and then from Neverwinter Nights to Dragon Age: Inquisition, Bioware went open world (and ditched the D&D rulesets/Forgotten Realms universe along the way). Neverwinter Nights was sort of my gateway drug to fantasy RPGs in general. Again, I haven't played Inquisition, so I don't know if the writing really is boring or not. When comparing Inquisition to Witcher 3 and Skyrim, from a purely gameplay standpoint, I'm the most excited about Inquisition of the three. And that's saying a lot when you consider how many characters in Skyrim I've gotten to at least level 40.

Dragon Age 2 was... sort of a huge misstep? I think "huge" is over-exaggerating. The world definitely felt very small in comparison, the stakes in the story weren't as high as they were in Dragon Age: Origins, and maybe the characters weren't as likable. I do think the game got at least a couple things right, though. The gameplay felt more fluid and the character progression felt more streamlined. I'm sure Inquisition was a course-corrector, but DA2 wasn't bad. In fact, I think it's very similar to Neverwinter Nights 2 in how it improved certain gameplay elements while having a slightly worse story/world, and I still loved NWN2. I enjoyed DA2 a lot despite its missteps.

 

I was hyped on DA:I but yeah the combat left a lot to be desired. Just got bored and never finished it.

 

Baldurs Gate 1 was a legit all-time classic. Fucking hard work but a classic for sure. Never got in to 2 though.

 

Baron's storyline in Witcher was fantastic. I feel like nothing else can deliver on that level.

God I hope that does not happen, Vivendi does no have a good record in that regard and, despite what people say, Ubisoft is good for the industry the way it is
