two video game soundtracks made me EOTY music list, NMS and DOOM

 

I like the XV soundtrack more than any Final Fantasy since X but I know I'm a stan for the series so I'd probably vote No Man's Sky as best s/t to avoid bias.

Not enjoying FFXV the game so much atm, but the soundtrack is a pure joy, no doubt about it.

I did not like DS3 but DS1 and 2 are two of my favorite games of all time

 

how? why? Dark Souls 3 is way better than 2 and it has so much of what made 1 great, just made a tad easier.

 

Getting back into the swing of things in w3. Remembering how to do alchemy and crafting and stuff. I remember how overwhelming this was the first time I played but now that I've been through it it's more manageable

 

For real though she breathed new life into the series, Uematsu has been a bit stale on a lot of his recent stuff (some of his XIV stuff was good but most of XIV was Soken, XIII was Hamauzu) and it's becoming apparent how much he strives to replicate what he's already done, mainly Shimomura is taking that light-hearted Kingdom Hearts sound she did so well and somehow making it work for a dark Final Fantasy game and it's perfect.

 

Have you picked up Blood and Wine? Been hearing great things about that.

also in reference to your earlier post, if you pick up civ VI let me know. If I can find that thing on sale for winter, we could get a multiplayer game going.

yep wd2 OST is definitely the best. hudson did a really good job.

 

That's actualy the main reason I bought it on launch day, to support the fact that they made a game like this in 2016. I'm not trying to say you shoudln't wait for a sale btw.

 

2 is my favorite actualy. I mainly play DS for PVP though, like I would happily buy a Dark Souls Arena game that's just the PVP Arena's from the covenants with a build creator.

I'm not sure I have the energy to explain why I did not like 3. I can say that I think it's harder than 1, or rather unfairer. I also think it's way too memberberries. It doesn't really matter though, I made my peace with it.

 

Ah, I don't care about PVP at all. I'm all about the lore and the bosses. Bloodborne is pretty easily my favourite Souls game if you class that.

I thought 3 was probably the easiest of them all. Not really sure what memberberries means.

 

When I first saw the trailer for Steep at E3 I was really hoping they'd have a summer season on it where you could do downhill biking/quad biking/motor cross/wing suit/paragliding sort of things. I'll prob still pick it up whenever it's on sale. Basically what I'm getting at is someone give me a decent biking game.

 

Sorry, it's from South Park. It means that I think it is pandering to the weird nostalgia that has developed around DS1. It's like The Force Awakens of Dark Souls.

Yeah see if you don't care about PVP I suspect you have a whole different view on the series than I do, which is fine. I like the rest, but without PvP I probably wouldn't bother. Like I said, I would buy a PvP only version.

 

Ahh, I don't think it's pandering that much. I think there's a ton of callbacks but I don't think many of them are in your face and it makes a lot of sense in terms of the story/lore of the games. I love The Force Awakens too, ha.

 

Really unsure whether or not to purchase The Last Guardian when it comes out. Shadow Of The Colossus is in my all-time top 3 and just thinking about it evokes such vivid memories of the first time I played it and how awestruck I was (I could write paragraphs about this perfect, perfect game but I'll spare you all the boredom lol). But, because TLG is loosely tied to it I have it in my head that it needs to be on the scale of SotC for me to enjoy it
