Does the story start to become more fleshed out/more of a focus? It really seems like every plot point is glossed over and rushed so far (only in chapter 3 though)

 

Yeah I'm hoping it'll get stronger as it goes on. I'm just at chapter 3 too.

I'm only 7 hours in, but still in chapter 2. Taking every opportunity to do every little quest and hunt I come across. Did some bigger level 2 hunts that are a few levels higher than me and they were a real challenge -- lots of healing, running, warping to safety, so on. I'm really, really enjoying the combat which was my biggest concern after the demo. Woke up early this morning just to do more random sidequest things before work -- this is the first game in awhile where I've felt the strong desire to see and do EVERYTHING.

 

Good to know. Thanks. Also good to know that I clearly haven't even scratched the surface at 6.5 hours in as I'm only a bit if he way through chapter 2.

 

Also, another minor dig I might have on the game is that sometimes the graphics look amazing and other times I can see what people meant by "PS3 looking". I wonder why that is?

 

the only game that could possibly even come close to dethroning this as my game of the year is The Last Gaurdian at this point. Which tbh after the wait for FF15 ended up paying off, I wouldn't be surprised at all if The Last Gaurdian lived up to all the hype I have for it.

 

This game is giving me that good old fashioned JRPG vibe I was wanting with everything except the battle system. A few issues I have are that I can't see the health bars of the enemies and often times it's so hectic that I can't see whats going on. And as others have said, the magic system seems unnecessarily difficult. Why does it seem like Noctis is the only one losing health in battles? Anyone have any tips?

 

I was thinking that during one of the flashback scenes.

 

A few streamers I watch have been saying the goal is to 100% the game.

Are they talking in terms of trophies or is there an actual way to 100% the game?

 

If you're playing on a HDR TV, make sure you turn HDR on in the options screen. The game has looked incredible the entire time ever since I did that.

 

I would think so, there don't appear to be radiant quests

 

I have a Samsung KS8000 and can't seem to figure out how to have game mode and HDR on at the same time. I thought maybe FFXV didn't have HDR yet. It auto sets itself on game mode. Maybe I should turn that off then turn HdR on?

 

I too notice this. There have been a few battles where one other character will need a potion but I have to use multiple potions on noctis in most battles.

 

I have the same TV. I went into the settings menu and adjusted everything exactly as they suggest in this video:

Then once that's done, make sure you're in game mode, start up FFXV, pause the game, go into the FFXV options menu and turn HDR on (it's near the bottom of the list). The picture should then be pretty awesome!

 

Sweet thanks. For the most part it already looks great (especially the end of chapter 1 cut scene) but hopefully this will just take it to another level.

 

Also, not sure if you are a sports fan but do you have trouble with football game broadcasts looking good on this tv? For whatever reason, close up shots of players are crystal clear but wide panning shots also seem to have glitches patches of glitchiness. How bad it is depends on the feed from the cable channel but I don't get why this only seems to be a problem with football games versus baseball, tv shows, movies etc

Also I watched Kingsglaive today, it's pretty terrible

 

Hoping this picks up soon because I'm bored out of my mind. This feels like a bunch of disparate elements all bundled together with neither of them being fun.

Combat system feels very clunky and chaotic with multiple enemies in play. Fetch quests and dead time between is pretty bad in this beginning sequence.

 

I would agree that the fetch quests primarily feel like dead/boring time and are there to pad the overall play time. It's the new grinding though I guess?

 

I beat Final Fantasy 1 for the 4th time last week so I'm feeling pretty good about myself
