    Apple appreciation post.

Being a web and graphic designer I decided to make the switch from a Sony Vaio Windows system early last year and I can honestly say I am never looking back.

System was the highest spec you could get on the market (not sure if it still is) and it has no problems even when I'm pushing the Adobe Suite all at once plus a million tabs in Chrome and Firefox (I can't be the only one who has a load of tabs right?)

The only thing I'd change is the power cable. A part from it being quite bulky it has also started to get weird yellow marks going off at the part that plugs into the Macbook itself (quick Google says this is common after prolonged use?) and the colour/material of the wire gets mucky quick so I have to clean it often.

Waiting until September for what I assume will be a new iPhone announcement (still using my 4S). If the rumours are true and there's no headphone jack I'll be real bummed and probably end up buying a 6S.

I get that they want to simplify their interfaces but there'll be times I want to charge my phone and listen to it, not to mention most of my audio gear doesn't support bluetooth and I don't want to shell out for a dinky adapter that will just constantly unplug in my pocket.

I would almost assure you there will be some kind of accessory to charge your phone and listen to music w/ headphones at the same time. I don't know how it would be done, but somebody will make something.

yeah i'm sure there will be one, i just think it's kind of silly is all. if it ain't broken, don't fix it.

i remember a lot of people being disappointed when they changed to the lightning jack, but at least that was an apple protocol > apple protocol change.

what do you think of their usb-c only macbook?

I prefer lightning over the old charge style. I can charge whenever however even when i'm being a dumbo.

USB-C is the future, and a better charge tech. Minor inconvenience right now will be standard in the future.

and we'll all be buying peripherals to support our suddenly obsolete devices. i agree with you but i'm still bummed haha.

edit: that being said i'm not in the market for a computer anyway, so what I have now will do.

I know who you mean. I'd say though, I think technology is actually moving us away from needing those peripherals. I understand there are a number of users who will always rely on them, but we are progressively moving towards that number being lower and lower.

Yeah, this was great to watch. I can vouch for what it's done for my brother (he has Fragile X). He wouldn't be where he is without his iPad let alone Apple computers. It's enabled a world for him that, otherwise, he wouldn't have known.

I really like my Klipsch headphones as my earbud option, but understand headphone jacks are going to go away sooner rather than later. I want to be ahead of the issue and get some Bluetooth earbuds. Does anyone know if there are good options for BT earbuds that are more like earplugs where the buds are not connected with a band?

I'm not sure I fully understand exactly what you want, but I'll drop my two cents. I have a pair of Jaybird earphones, and they're really great for running and being on the go. I will sometimes just use my EarPods, but these are just so much more comfortable. The only downside is I always forget to charge.

What I am looking are buds that are not connected with a band. BT earbuds that are two separate pieces. I want the BT earbud equivalent of this:

I've heard of some but never really looked into them. Name is defying me, too.

I ended up with a free pair of bluetooth in-ears that I'm using for working out and I'll see what Apple does in the fall.

This is definitely the style I am looking for. That's a hefty earbud price, but who knows. I don't really know this market space too well. Do you know how long the battery life is?

    Sweet god, $249. Nope.

Maybe the Jaybirds are the way to go, idk. $180 still feels expensive for earbuds. The thing is, I am mostly using them for running or travelling. I am using them so I don't have to fumble around with over the ear monitors. I understand I am giving up some sound quality. To pay a premium for less sound just feels wrong to me haha.

Edit: sorry to hijack the Apple thread for this discussion. But, as an Apple iPhone and iPod user, this felt like a relevant place to post.

I know of exactly one pair of earbuds that don't have a wire connecting them and they are hot garbage. Bluetooth tech isn't at the point where you can reasonably expect to connect two independent devices and have them sync up perfectly, and most putting a battery, bluetooth radio, and everything else into a single ear bud and still have them be comfortable just isn't possible yet.
