There's literally never been a Final Fantasy game I haven't enjoyed. Cannot wait to play XV, aka Road Trip With Your Bros Simulator 2016.

 

Who are these people

 

I listen to a lot of video game podcasts (probably too many, but that is another story). For example, on the most recent episode of 8-4 Play they talk about the huge, new, Japan exclusive demo and they say that the world is depressingly empty (they say it is the opposite of Xenoblade Chronicles X in that regard) and that it is a pain to traverse.

We'll find out soon I guess. I'm just saying, thinking of this as a masterpiece made over the span of 10 years might create unreasonable expectations.

 

Now FFXV is preloaded, taunting me until it unlocks in 40 hours...

I don't think anyone is saying they're expecting a masterpiece. I'm just excited it's finally coming out, and that I'll have a completely new final fantasy to play through.

 

Fair enough.

Putting the discussions regarding XV's quality aside though - what does "a new Final Fantasy" even mean at this point, besides branding? I think there is an argument to be made that if you want to play an actual new Final Fantasy in 2016, the Bravely Default series is the way to go.

 

For some reason Amazon made me update my payment method yesterday and now it says it's supposed to be here Thursday instead of tomorrow. I do not get it and I am bummed.

 

Help! I don't know what to do!

I started the game as a Nord with the civil war quest line in mind. I was roleplaying as a Nord who buys a house in Solitude to "infiltrate the enemy"--I even moved my Nord wife and kids there. The Nords are taking over! I cleared every Imperial camp I've come across so far. After completing every other side quest line in the main game, I went to Windhelm to finally join the Stormcloaks, and Galmar says, "So, what makes a foreigner like you want to join the Stormcloaks?" Um, WHAT? I get that maybe I'm a Nord from Cyrodiil or whatever, but my responses are "Do you only take Nords?" and "Not only Nords want to fight for the Empire" or something along those lines. WTF Bethesda! Apparently, he even says this to non-vampire Nords (I'm a vampire, which does things to the way NPCs react to you re: race). I mostly wanted to switch sides this time from my previous playthroughs just to see what the Battle for Solitude looks like, but hell, I was so offended that I almost decided to come back to Elisif and join the Imperials. Should I look past this, or betray my own people?

*At the time of writing this, I realized I had already joined the Stormcloaks in my most recent save-game. Oh well. Here's a story.

I'm getting FFXV but keeping my expectations low

 

So tempting, I do want to see if any other deals come tomorrow though.

 

I think FFXV looked like a masterpiece early on (with the darker storyline that did not look like a damn Bros road trip). I'm hopeful that it is better than XIII (which I still enjoyed), but do not expect it to be better than my favorites (IV and X). I've been playing IX for the first time ever over the past couple of weeks and it is pretty good too. Can't believe the graphical jump they made from IX to X though!

 

Looks like they are bundling it with a controller for $373 as well so a few bucks off the controller too.

 

Looks like FFXV is $50.99 on Amazon today. I think that is the non prime price as prime members get it for $48 right?

 

Been enjoying FH3. Excited that in a couple days I'll have FFXV to play. Not expecting anything revolutionary, just want to enjoy it.

 

Ooof, I couldn't stand Bravely Default though. It started out great and the combat system is awesome. But Chapters 5-8 are literal repeats. I didn't bother to finish it because I was stuck on Chapter 5 and I knew what was coming. And I have heard almost nothing about Bravely Second, neither here nor anywhere else. I honestly feel like that series is already dead, especially since I completely forgot it existed until you mentioned it haha.

 

I didn't enjoy Bravely Default at all. Extremely repetitive, the story wasn't very good either. I did like being able to set the encounter rate though.

I watched Kingsglaive today and it got me even more hyped. Visually stunning.

 

I largely agree with you about BD. Bravely Second is a much better game though.

 

I've recently been playing Prison Architect and its a wonderful little management game.

I've got FH3 if anyone wants to party up sometime. i haven't played much since the influx of games in october and november and need to spend some more time with it.

Microsoft has now sent me two broken Xbox Ones in two weeks. They are more broken than the one I originally sent for repairs. I should have just left well enough alone.

 

I can't seem to sell my PS4 as quickly as I thought I could. Which is a bummer.

Need to sell it by tomorrow so I can go grab this Pro.
