And I did catch up on the thread and not shockingly do have some gun trauma that still bums be out 6 years later:

My brother's best friend for his entire life, Nick, was a staple in our lives growing up. He lived in our neighborhood. Over every day. Literally the most insanely ridiculous, funniest person. It's not even the "the dead person was the funniest, life of party, etc. etc." thing. He legit was. He was best friends with everyone. He knew everyone. He took like so unseriously and was just the best. Would have been in my brother's wedding. The only friend he was going to have in it.

He was at a party with some shady people. Someone had a gun. He sent a snap to my brother that night. My brother didn't see it until 10 minutes after. It was a video of Nick being Nick just dicking around but my brother saw the gun in the video. He wrote back essentially: "hey man, don't be fucking dumb, have them put the gun away" And unfortunately that message was never see.

The details won't ever come out, but essentially a freak accident happened. The gun went off. Shot him in the head. He died.

He left behind an older brother who will never get to introduce his 2 kids to their uncle, 3 younger brothers he was essentially a dad-like figure to, and never got to be best man at his brother's wedding months later. His brother instead had to give a eulogy, which low key was the funniest and saddest thing ever trying to explain Nick's popular "dick tricks" to hundreds of people packed into a church while the priest or whoever looked upon in horror. As Nick would have wanted.
