I’m just not understanding why people don’t realize “crazy shit happens all the time” does not mean there’s not a pattern

no matter how wild the spectrum of possible results is, a standard distribution is a standard distribution, the most likely outcomes are what happen the most. That’s just mathematically how stuff like that works.

That's how things work with a defined probability to base your mathematics off of. Football players do not provide defined probability

If there’s one thing data science courses taught me it’s that there is a pattern in all the craziness even when it comes to seemingly random and completely unpredictable things

The hard part of making predictions is that patterns change and it’s hard to know when those trends / paradigms will shift, but if you’re watching a lot of football you can adjust quickly even if you’re initially caught by surprise
