Do theaters actually notice if people see multiple movies on one ticket, especially if it is a matinee? I have never done it before but two movies line up well but I don't want to get arrested.

The cinema I saw Anora and All We Imagine as Light didnt check tickets at all. Very confident I could start booking a seat online close to starting time, check which ones are empty and then walk in.

I didnt because the tickets were only $12

 

The theaters don't seem to check tickets much during the day but also most of the theaters now sell the tickets at the concession counter so I would imagine they would notice if you walked just past it.

The theater I am planning this caper at has just the one ticket checker station and then all the theaters are behind it. I wouldn't risk it at the theaters where the screens are divided to the left and right of the main area. The big risk is refilling soda and/or popcorn for the second movie.

 

I bought my tickets online, at the other chain cinemas you scan the QR code at a separate machine and they print off a little bit of paper to use as a ticket. This cinema had no machines and I never saw anyone else printing there's. I went to the concession stand to buy popcorn and was going to ask where I print the ticket but realised nobody else was so I assumed they would scan my phone at the entrance like at IMAX but no, nothing.

 

I am going to try this with The Room Next Door/The Last Showgirl on Saturday. If it works I will try to coordinate a triple feature with Hard Truths/Nickel Boys/The Brutalist on Monday but that is going to be a long day.

You doing this at a theater with assigned seats? ‘Cause I’ve had people in my seat a couple times, and like… that’s always an annoying social interaction to have, lol.

 

I feel like AMC is usually checking tickets when you get in, but so many of the smaller chains don’t staff a ticket counter anymore. It’s either book online or do the digital kiosk. Gotta be easy to just skip that all together and sneak in to a show that isn’t sold out.

 

I used to do that all the time in high school. I doubt anyone will check. They make money off of concession not tickets sales so they probably don’t care that much. Just check online that you aren't in anyone’s seat.

 

i still do it a lot. with regal unlimited there's no reason not to. what, they're going to miss my 50 cent surcharge? it isn't worth opening the app again for that

 

My mom and I used to sneak into second/third movies all the time when I was in jr high/high school. Haha

 

my AMCs have been checking IDs for the A-List subscription pretty regularly the last few months

My AMCs scan your ticket (and check ID if you have A-List) when you enter the building. After that they don't seem to care what you do at all.

 

I have already tested my AMC by putting ICEE in my soda cup and the employees couldn't care less. This is the next step.

 

I usually bring in a bottle of water cause they’re $4.50 at Cinemark and I used to try and hide it but literally no one cares.

 

They check it maybe 20% of the time I can't blame them

So like, what’s the deal with Emilia Pérez? The sense I get from the critiques and awards buzz that I’ve stumble on, is that it’s bad in, idk, kind of a Crash way. Is that right?
