    I commute like 40 minutes both ways so that on top of the gas should hopefully make a difference. Yeah we don’t do much during the week either because my partner does the same. The only downside is I can’t take off Monday or Friday because I’m a PT and we have some people we see 3x/week because of surgery. But I think just having a whole extra day to get stuff done will be worth it.

    But I’ll be able to occasionally switch my day off if we have stuff going on.

    Because if its actually worth $685k, you'll have multiple people (who might have put $675k as their cutoff on Zillow and never found your house) put in bids at asking or even over asking. And that doesnt mean it'll end at that price after appraisal, but as a seller, what you really want is people waiving contingencies (inspection, etc).

    For example, our townhouse listed at $340k. It ultimately appraised and sold at $340k. Within 24hrs of listing we got 3 different bids...first was $355k, only contingency was appraisal (no inspection, etc). Second was $355k (and willing to go up to 2% higher if needed), but it came with an inspection and appraisal. And the third I think was lower than $355k...dont remember.

    Now, we had bought 3 years prior and I knew what would flag on the inspection (roof being <5 years from done, some minor stuff with the deck and attic insulation), and they werent deal breakers, but, I also knew it was never actually gonna appraise at $350+k. So rather than get a shit inspector who flags something crazy and ruins the deal, we took the one where the only thing that could happen was the thing I 100% knew would happen.

    Had we listed at $375k, we probably get no offers week 1, drop to $360k, and after a month maybe get a $345k offer that ends up the same selling price...but as sellers we spent a month worrying and our realtor looks like a dumbass.

    yea not getting monday or friday isnt ideal but i think id still take the break in the middle and 3 days a week to sleep in

    Though, I think its a great strategy for starter homes and homes <$4-500k. At $665k, Id almost want my house listed higher so people think its worth more.

    But real estate agents gotta throw a ton of game strategy in to make you think they are worth the 3%

    The no Monday/Friday is a little rough, but it kinda feels like Wednesdays off every week (so you have 2 day weekends, 2 work days, a day off, then 2 work days) is a truly liveable lifestyle at a single job for 20+ years. Also means you only need to take 2 paid days off to get a solid 5 straight day vacation

    My buddy who does hospital IT does 4/10s, with every friday off (the old rotation before WVU bought them out was also like every 6th weekend he was on call Fri-Sun). Makes it super easy to plan trips with him because a Thurs-Sun thing only requires him taking a day off.

    I also can’t take Wednesday off lol but yeah the big thing is being able to move my off day to a weekend occasionally and then have a 3 day weekend without using any PTO.

    The neighbor that was shoveling at like 7 am over the weekend is now shoveling at 10:45 PM EST on a Tuesday night!! And she’s shoveling her back fucking patio that she doesn’t use in the winter!!!!
