TIL: Issac Brock from Modest Mouse and Jack White have the exact same birthday (July 9, 1975)

 

TIL or rather YIL that a new animal was found dwelling at the bottom of the sea (or relatively speaking - for us humans it might as well be the bottom tho) that looks a striking amount like the creatures in the Alien films, and is a very deadly predator. oh, and it wa given the affectionate name of Darkness. looks so creepy

 

TIL Dr. Pepper is owned by Keurig in the US, owned by Coca-Cola in UK, Japan, South Korea, and owned by Pepsi in mainland Europe and Canada.

TIL in Waco, Texas there is a museum dedicated to Dr. Pepper that is on the national register of historic places

 

I’ve truly never understood the ownership/distribution getup of Dr. Pepper

 

From what I have read Dr Pepper is owned by Keurig and because of that they can license with both Pepsi and coke, but are owned by neither.

TIL Keurig also owns Snapple, Sunkist, 7UP, Crush, A&W, Squirt, Yoo-Hoo, Mott's, Canada Dry, Hawaiian Punch, Shweppe's, IBC, and Vernors as well.

TIL: Thirl Ravenscroft, the singer of “You’re A Mean One Mr. Grinch” was also the original voice of Tony the Tiger

TIL: Coca Cola more-or-less innovated the design of Santa that we know today

 

TIL: Hollister is owned by Abercrombie & Fitch

 

The funniest part of that to me is Abercrombie fabricated an entire origin story for Hollister, claiming it was started by some guy that immigrated to CA in the 20s or something when in reality they just came up with the brand in the early 2000s and its based in Ohio.

 

Yeah I cracked up when I read that. I also read that each store used to have large screens which would broadcast livestreams of Huntington Beach. They wanna be from CA so bad

 

TIL that Zales, Kay, and Jared are all owned by the same jewelry conglomerate
