Was there anything that led up to this before this happened? If not, it’s incredibly funny and pathetic that they defaulted to trying to shit on a program better than theirs vs, you know, celebrating their own program lol

Like, most fans would be screaming “we’re #1!” or pointing arrogantly at their logo on a shirt or hat like a tough guy but picturing Aggies fans only being able to hate on Texas as a default because they have nothing lol

Absolutely nothing but being delusional about your school/program is normal/expected. Defaulting to “Texas sucks!” as their ‘go-to’ move (especially when they’re much better than you) is hilariously sad imo

I don’t really care because they lost so they made their bed but one loss Oregon still has the best resume in college football so it’s a little silly that they’re not in anything remotely close to the championship game after losing the wrong game of a split series against Ohio State

 

its just that we have to change our mentality a little bit. It happens in sports all the time where the best regular season team lays an egg at the worst possible time.

Oregon could've been undefeated and lost to 2 loss Georgia in the championship game and say the same thing.

 

I mean sure but I think it’s stupid in other sports too when you arbitrarily drop your best teams from a bloated playoffs and get stuck with something like a Rangers/Diamondbacks World Series when neither team is a top 5 team in the sport that year

and at least in your case they would have hypothetically lost in the championship, which they earned their berth to by having the best resume, vs actually losing in the second round of the playoffs

i understand. You're talking to MR "fuck playoff expansion" in all sports here... but in the end other than re-seeding, i think this is going pretty good in terms of getting rid of pretenders and going on to crown a rightful champion.

If it wasn't for weather and the time of the year, i'd make the 2nd round home sites too. In college, home field is a humongous advantage, but the logistics just aren't there.

Oregon was going to have to face a hard team at some point. Would it be better if they got to beat up Boise first? And then get killed?

 

Just say you want the team with the best record to be the champion then lol playoffs are meant to be a different beast and some teams show up, and others don’t. Oregon has a history of choking at this point. It’s who they are.

I don't think it breaks it, though. If you're really the best team then you should be able to beat a mediocre team in the playoffs.

I (mostly) completely agree! Just prefer a smaller playoff so that a similar sentiment is true for Ohio State in rivalry week and for Penn State and Texas in conference championship week instead of just being true right now
