Where there’s smoke, there’s fire. I was pro-Wentz until the 2020. I read the reports and heard about the drama in 2018 and 2019, but chose to look the other way because Wentz had to be the guy. Like, he was obviously a better quarterback than Foles even though Foles is a legend. At the time, it painted Alshon Jeffery in a negative light for me, as he was one of the more prominent players who preferred Foles over Wentz. Turns out he was right all along and Darren Sproles is another player who has shed some light on the Wentz drama about how shitty of a teammate he was.

It’s tough because, as a fan, you want the guy to be ~the guy~ to the point that you’re willing to ignore some of the red flags along the way. What’s the line from Bojack Horseman? When you’re wearing red-colored glasses, all the red flags just look like flags? It just sucks as a fan when you watch your team sit in purgatory for years and you’re told to believe in the team once again when they draft a QB high because you’re hoping they turn the franchise around. Then, when they’re not ~the guy,~ it almost always sets the franchise back for years.

I feel for Colts fans. I was intrigued by AR during the draft process. I recognized that he was a raw prospect and they needed to give him time to develop. The injuries have sucked and I really feel for the player in that regard. I also feel for the player because he seems to work for a shitty organization that will twist media reports to spin them in a more positive light over the player, but there have obviously been several reports regarding AR’s character and effort that it’s fair to question if the guy is even a legit player at this level.

I think they gotta give him one more year, but it’s gotta be make or break.

    The rivalry is back on

if there’s one thing I hope for in an eventual post-Ballard era, it’s to not avoid free agency with a ten foot pole, but if there’s a second thing I hope for, it’s that this stops. It’s so embarrassing for everyone involved

@JoshIsMediocre i don't want to respond in that thread since a) I don't like jason but that's besides the point and b) the tone of the thread is very weird in there right now but AP and Chorus do feel legitimately different in some ways and essentially just a color palette switch in others. For the former, AP would essentially weekly premiere albums or singles in a way that barely any websites do anymore so not really blaming chorus for that since it's just due to a change in the industry but also artists/bands frequented AP in a way that they just don't now. I wouldn't quite say it had pitchfork levels of importance but it was closer to that than what chorus is, where I couldn't really tell a single band of any size that frequents here of note. Jason said that was part of the mission of chorus but, like, that seems goofy lol. I can get wanting it to be more community focused and less stressful to operate but that seems like sugarcoating the site losing its luster at the same time. The community also feels different. It was somehow more cliquey than chorus is but it did inspire actual discussion of albums and entertainment in a way that this site seems to actively shut down where you never really see critical discussions besides "I like this." I think this is probably due to reviews dwindling due to less actual staff members but I could be wrong.

In other ways, there was a lot of discussion over how chorus would be ethically different than AP but, while that might have been the case for like six months or so, it has kind of reverted to just AP with a different color scheme in that regard. Jason also said Chorus would be about having more access to him and his writing but it seems like his newsletter hasn't gone out in like six months so idk there either. He could have just moved it to substack or something and I missed it though so idk there.

I know some others in here were super active on AP and could chime in but like I said I don't really wanna post in there/would appreciate it if yall weren't weird and shared this post in a DM or whatever since as I said, the tone of that thread is a little uncomfortable

Yeah my question was more about the community aspect - I know a bit about the importance to “the scene” or whatever

It really does feel like people that say they miss AP are just saying they miss being 18

I vaguest remember reading some reviews on AP, probably wonder years stuff from Thomas Nassiff but didn’t go into the forums at all. It does seem like there’s not as much critical discussion of music, like you said

Chorus definitely =\= AP, either in terms of importance to the music scene and emphasis on music in general. AP was the go to place for music news, with singles, articles, reviews, tour updates, etc. surprise releasing tracks as the period in a news post? It was the best news aggregator and breaker around. Given how the scene popularity has dissipated, it’s not a surprise that chorus doesn’t maintain that same level of importance. I do think chorus has a more community vibe that promotes actual relationships in a way I never was interested in on AP.

All things being equal, I liked AP more because it did more to directly expose me to new music and refine and enhance my interests.

AP was way bigger in all regards. Just in the scene or whatever and in the amount of active posters. Chorus is mostly a nicer and friendly community but I think a big thing is just the age. Everyone was like 18-28 or so in the prime of AP and I think a lot of people miss that. There also was more in depth discussion of music, films etc and I think that also has to do with the way more active posters. It’s the same handful basically in every thread here.

Completely agreed. Hopefully Irsay isn’t the main culprit behind the media sway, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he is
