I wish the iPad could be more for me, but I think I've come to realize that I just like macOS too much, and it's too built in my DNA for how I think about technology to help and assist me. The keyboard shortcuts and window management I use to just "do work" is something I can't recreate on an iPad.

I could probably make an iPad setup that I could use for work but it would just be making it replicate a Mac as much as possible so why bother.

 

You both nailed it. I know I could somehow shoehorn it into working but it would take so much time and work that I’ll just use a Mac.

Make me a 11 or 12-inch MacBook again and I’ll be happy as a clam.

 

iPad is just a secondary device/glorified video machine for me. I’ll use it as a primary device for a quick weekend trip where I know I’ll need to be connected to email, but beyond that, nah. I love it for what it is to me and will never need one beyond normal/air.

 

Question for the thread. I have a 14 pro and can still get $450 in trade-in value for a new phone but I also have Apple care+. Should I wait it out and get a battery replacement when it falls under 80 (at 81% now) or should I just go ahead and trade in and take the value?

 

At this rate I’d wait for the 17 and trade

Just get a battery replacement. Sometimes they’re nice and will replace before 80% if it’s borderline like this. Also helps if you have AppleCare.

 

I don't think things have changed since my ~2 years of post-fruit stand employment, but the battery would need to be under 80% for the replacement to be at no cost.

You can still request a battery replacement regardless of battery health %, but you'd have to pay the out of warranty cost of $99. At least this was the case at my store which was (annoyingly) very by the book and rarely granted exceptions but ymmv!

other than a constant loop of videos on full brightness while on a wireless charger, not really lol

Was just curious because it had been on 83 for the longest time and then I just checked and it randomly dropped 2%

 

wife and I exchanged gifts tonight and she surprised me with the m4 mini. temporarily using a very old tv as a monitor so it is dog shit ugly right now but having a responsive computer again is fuckin wild lol

 

I just recently got Apple Music and some of the mp3s that were already on my phone have quit working with the latest IOS update. Anyone have any idea what might’ve happened? Some of them even disappeared off the phone.

 

Monitor shopping is giving me a fucking headache. 5k is out of the budget right now I think but I’ve been looking at this 27” 4k BenQ that’s supposedly made to work with Mac that came out pretty recently but the only reviews I’ve seen come off more as ads so I’m hesitant to pull the trigger.

Anybody have any good 3rd party recs?

 

Haven't used the BenQ 27 inch monitors, but we have several 24 inch at work and they ghost pretty bad

 

Got a pair of lightning AirPod Max for Christmas for myself using a work bonus. Prices were finally at a place where I felt semi-comfortable. Blown away by the sound quality and build quality right out of the box, but it's definitely going to take some getting used to the weight/heat generated in the cups by my ears. I'm so used to the Bose QC35ii, which will probably always be the most comfortable over-the-ears I've ever worn.
