  1. I still wish Letterboxd had a way to sort by wide release. It kept a few off of my list. I also didn't know how to categorize Strange Darling

  4. Haha, I'm glad we're so chill in this thread that we don't bash each other's tastes (at least, not seriously) but I was gonna say: dang, if you have IAVN or Terrifier 3 on your list but not ISTTVG I think I'm scared of you

In a Violent Nature was pretty profound. Hit every note I wanted it to perfectly, left a lasting mark on me since I’ve seen it

  10. I need to rewatch In a Violent Nature, might be the only thing that switches up my current list. It's in my top 15 or so, but not my top 10 currently.

Hell yes. I’ve noticed that movie left out of top ten lists for the genre across the board and that bummed me out because it was a brilliant take on the slasher genre and I felt it accomplished what it set out to do.

Saw Nosferatu tonight with my filmmaking partner, it was so damn good. The cinematography and lightning was just amazing, I just gushed at how the movie played with lights and shadows. Aaron Tyler-Johnson truly impressed with his role as Friedrich, he was an honest stand out and his death scene in the family crypt was just so goddamn good. I loved the ending too, it was a perfect way to end the story. Eggers is now 4 for 4 in my book, just a true master of his craft. Y’all need to go see this movie.

Also to offset the positivity, the theater projection was kinda dim so it definitely hurt parts of the movie and the lady next to me kept clearing her throat and sniffing loudly. Boo boo, get some Flonase.

To add to this, I watched it on Shudder and the moment the credits rolled, I instantly preordered the Blu Ray. I did the same for Skinamarink, I recognize good ass movies and I’ll support them with my wallet.

Nosferatu was dope. I think I preferred the first half to the last, especially Thomas getting to the castle. That shot in the forest is insanely beautiful. Love that it was a Christmas movie. I think I might still prefer Bram Stoker's Dracula by a slight margin, but excited to watch it again.

Now let me see if I even watched 10 new horror movies this year.

I think I only watched 11 new horror movies in 2024, so here's my ranking:

    1. Late Night With the Devil
    2. Trap
    3. Nosferatu
    4. Lisa Frankenstein
    5. In a Violent Nature
    6. Maxxxine
    7. Alien: Romulus
    8. Abigail
    9. Horror in the High Desert 3: Firewatch
    10. Salem’s Lot

The only other thing I watched was Carved, which I like, but hardly needs to be an honorable mention.

  20. If no one takes me up on the honorable mentions, I'll just list the next three after the Top 10. No big

  21. Nosferatu made me want to revisit From Hell. Anyone know if that one holds up, Depp aside? I loved it in high school
