God, I love that song.

Though her telling the crowd live that it's about being assaulted at a burger joint was not my original read of it.

 

The new record from Jamie Kent has been on repeat for me the past week or so. Pretty perfect balance between Springsteen, Petty, and Will Hoge.

 

More people need to know how incredible she is. I think her persona overshadows it sometimes.

 

I just discovered the Walking The Floor w/ Chris Shiflett Podcast. So many good interviews with some of country's greatest.

Glad to hear this. I'm picking it up today. Rolling Stone said that you can hear elements of Emmylou's Wrecking Ball in this...sold.

 

In my search I could not find an Avett Brothers thread, so this seemed like the appropriate one to bring this up. New video which is a somewhat continuation of the Ain't No Man video. Love this song and the video is excellent.

I was just on Holly Williams wiki page and it looks like she's got a new album coming relatively soon. That's exciting.

 

Is there really 24 songs tho? Google Play has it starting its count over. Is it like a 2 disc thing? Regardless it's sounding great so far

You can't go wrong just listening to the albums from a bunch of the co-writers Miranda had on this album. I'm a big fan of:

Ashley Monroe - The Blade
Adam Hood - Welcome to the Big World
Brent Cobb - Shine on Rainy Day
Anderson East - Delilah
Lucie Silvas - Letters to Ghosts
Foy Vance - The Wild Swan

All of those artists have at least one co-write on The Weight of These Wings, and they're all talented artists worth listening to in their own right.

Last night me and my wife were eating at a restaurant called Even a Stevens in downtown SLC. We forgot they have live music on fridays, and the band that played was awesome.

They are called Dealin' In Dirt. Super talented outlaw country in the vein of Lucero and Drive any Truckers. It was just acoustic but the guitar playing was unreal, the singer sounded like a mix of Ben Nichols and Laura Jane Grace. I recommend checking them out. They are just local to SLC, but have an album on Apple Music. It's not a great recording but gives you a good idea of what they are like.

Hope he wins. I would say that I know he won't, but weird shit happens in Album of the Year on a regular basis.

 

He's certainly deserving!
