Saw this trailer before Sonic 3 today. It had a couple different shots that are not in the online trailer.

I will say this: I don't think downtown Cleveland makes a very good looking Metropolis.

    Cleveland and parts in Cincinnati

Fortress of Solitude was filmed in Svalbard island in Norway.

Filming anything in Ohio should be a crime. Just an absolute dump of a state. Maybe worse than Florida. At least Florida can be fun.

yes but Pittsburgh is a great city with a great skyline. Everything in Ohio is toilet water at best.

The 2000's Thomas Jane Punisher was filmed in my area. Frank Castle's family gets gunned down in the state park beach in my town.

The ending on the Sunshine Skyway bridge rules.

Crazy they didn’t do it in STL based on James’ heritage and the fact that the Continental Building was the basis for the Daily Planet building.

Still love that Star Lord in the MCU is from St. Charles, MO, even if the town the looks vastly better in the movie.

I genuinely think right now, we need Superman. We need that character who helps guide people to do the right thing no matter what, the world got really scary and we need that motivation in our lives to do better more than ever.

That’s always been my favorite part of Superman and why Snyder’s version never felt right to me.

Superman is good for the sake of being good. His real power is getting people to feel that they are superhuman. I think that’s what people are attracted to. Not his super strength, but his willingness to never compromise and his belief that humans are worth anything he can give.

I can’t think of any modern superhero film that has accurately portrayed that. I hope Gunn lands it

I’ve kinda grown a bit wary of the boiling down of Superman to “hope” or “goodness,” tbh. Not because it’s wrong per se, but because that incomplete framing lends itself to some limp ass stories and takes. At its worst, it often leans into what I’d call straight-up conservative, reactionary shit.

For me, one of the best distillations of Superman at his best is his “Man of Tomorrow” nickname. Whether it’s his champion of the oppressed angle in his first appearance or the playful dream logic of the Silver Age (both angles that Grant Morrison has historically channeled wonderfully in their work), there’s a degree to which Superman represents possibility. These stories, when done well, are fun genre tales that push the reader’s imagination, either towards healthy, stimulating play or towards imagining a better tomorrow (or perhaps both, hand in hand).

Anyways, I’m looking forward to rambling way too much about cape shit in this thread next year, lol.

Where can I go to read DC Comics online? Is it worth it?

I personally like to read in print, not digitally. But, I’ve heard very good things about DC’s digital subscription service, DC Universe Infinite. So, that could be useful to you if you specifically wanna read a lot of DC digitally & legally. Also, if you have a library card, apparently Hoopla is quite useful in checking out comic collections digitally.
