I've had such a meh reading year. I think it is because I am in a transition period of reading journey where I am having a hard time being excited by the types of books I usually would gravitate towards.

But man, 11/22/63 is really doing it for me. About 300 pages in and we're barely even in Dallas but it's just so good. I knew this was considered his best "modern" release and I loved the tv series forever ago ... but reading it now and it's living up to the hype.

Just finished On Writing. Loved the half-memoir, half-writing and editing tips structure. Favorite part was the editing section using 1408 - love to see what goes into a first draft and how he self-edits for pacing and fat-trimming.

Also - stoked for this movie after seeing the trailer before Heretic.

currently up to Eyes of the Dragon on my Dark Tower journey. this is really cool especially if you imagine it as a story being told to young Roland

    I have finished 11/22/63.

It could be recency bias, but I am not afraid to say this might go down as arguably my favorite of all time. What an absolute joy to read and an ending that puts the "he can't write a good ending" to shame.

I stupidly watched the show way back when and have purposely waited to read this one, but it was so, so, so worth it.

After absolutely loving The Long Walk, it's taken me a little while to get fully into Needful Things, but it's cooking now and I really want to finish it over this long weekend.

But damn, The Long Walk makes you physically tired reading it.

the ending of 11/22/63 is phenomenal, thank Joe Hill for that one

I'm up to Wizard and Glass again on my second trip to the Tower, this really might be my favourite book he's ever written

I think 11 is definitely his best post-2000 book (shoutout Revival too) and has a decent shot at being top 10 overall. not too shabby considering the amount of books this man has lmao

I've read Dark Tower 1-3 twice each but have never gotten to Wizard and Glass

yeah Wastelands into W&G is definitely the high point of The Dark Tower for me, crazy books

I forgot how silly it is when he goes full Wizard of Oz in W&G lmao. especially coming after the charyou tree chapter which is potentially the saddest, most fucked up part in any of his books

still a masterpiece though! I guess I'm at that point where I can finally read Insomnia and The Talisman over Christmas, I've been meaning to read them for years now

I'm about 3/4 through Pet Semetary and expect to finish it this week

Also started a book called Monstrilio by Gerardo Samano Cordova without knowing what it's about, and what a weird coincidence it turns out to be pretty similar subject matter to Pet Semetary

Y’all finally convinced me to check out 11/22/63. The Dark Tower series is one of my favorites of all time and I’ve read a couple other of King’s books but not this one. I watched the limited series when it came out and really enjoyed it, but I forgot a lot of it. I’m a huge time travel nerd too so after reading the praise here in the last page or two finally decided to pick it up! Let’s see how much I enjoy it.

Finished Pet Semetary last night and loved it. Also it's crazy that there isn't any kind of sequel story or mention in other books given how it ends and how all his books tend to take place in the same continuity

Now I can finally watch the movie

I've always loved the movie but only just got around to reading the 1408 short story. absolutely terrifying, some of his scariest writing, and so much more unsettling for how quickly it goes off the rails compared to the movie

ok The Talisman is extremely my shit so far, really wish I'd read this when I was younger

read the line about Jack switching to the Territories on a plane and falling to the ground while I was in midair on a plane, I was very discomforted lol

kinda surreal reading Talisman and the main characters take a journey by train across a post apocalyptic wasteland 7 years before The Wastelands was published lol. actually there's a lot of proto DT stuff in this

finished Talisman the other night, great stuff if a little long. definitely felt the length of that one a lot more than The Stand or IT for whatever reason

also started Insomnia, I guess I shouldn't be surprised after all I've heard about it but this book is bizarre lmao. 100 pages in and I have no idea what tone he's aiming for here lol

The Talisman was one of the first King books I read. I really liked it but don't remember much. Need to revisit it sometime
