he’s on my friends can’t’ miss list for Coachella but I’ve heard horror stories about how bad the live show is, truly that bad?

Worst show for me this year was Bowling For Soup. They sounded great and it was awesome getting to see an album that I had on repeat during my childhood in its entirety. But fucking hell Jarret needs to shut the fuck up in between songs. It was funny at first, but after like five songs, it was like pulling teeth

  5. I had a "season lawn pass" so i could go to any show and chill in the lawn. So it was essentially "free."

i dont think i had a 'worst set', no one was flat out bad at performing, but i devised a few categories anyways

didnt quite live up to the hype i built in my head, but i get it, they are old: the dickies

openers i didnt need: robin thicke (opened for boyz 2 men), and Rooney (opened for E.L.O)

acts i found a bit boring on an adjacent stage while waited for someone at riotfest: spoon, dr. dog

crowd was ass and made the show less enjoybale: joan jett (openeing for alanis everyone talked)

sound issues: princess goes - i came for michael C. Hall's voice, why is that the softest thing in the mix?????

Worst set for me was Black Country, New Road’s Coachella set this year. Straight up didn’t even sound like music

  9. Looking back through my list and I also didn't really have any terrible sets.

The Ataris' guitarist was out of tune for most of the set, but I still had a lot of fun.

Thursday's openers — Rival Schools and Many Eyes — weren't great, but that's more my taste than their performance.

My actual least favorite of the year was probably Health at Riot Fest. I think(?) they played fine, but their bass was mixed so loud that it was painful and incomprehensible even from halfway across the field.

Was talking with friends last night about creating the most realistic tour package that could happen, that you would hands down buy tickets in a heart beat.

What would yours be? i.e. it should NOT be Aerosmith / The Wonder Years / Taylor Swift / Slipknot

If we're talking worst sets of the year I'd say sitting through Kublai Khan was pretty insufferable and I managed to do it twice. Their fans are absolutely awful.

Hard to pick a set that was "worst" for me that doesn't feel biased because I didn't really like the band anyway, TBH. But I was super underwhelmed by ALL at Riot Fest. Still wasn't "bad" just... Yeah... I dunno...

How about bands that surprised you with how good they were live?

    - Spaced and Spiritual Cramp opening for Militarie Gun
    - Thumper opening for Big D & the Kids Table
    - Sublime, Winona Fighter @ Riot Fest

Almost went to the sold out show in Atlanta. What was so bad about it? The musics fine to me, I don't hate it. Would have gone because my wife wanted to go. We went to WesGhost instead and that was a pretty lame show. I described it as music for emotionally immature people. Every band and every song was about toxic people and toxic relationships sung by (possibly) the toxic ones.

New Found Glory + Good Charlotte co-headliner. Last done back in 2003, and with this this pop punk revival I'm shocked it hasn't happened again. Package them with a third act of similar stature and they can probably do small sheds.

Also Family Values should've been revived at this point. Korn/Limp Bizkit/Ice Cube/Snoop Dogg. Make it happen!

Worst crowds - Bayside, Silverstein at American legion, Devil wears Prada at WWWY (still in physical therapy due to the last two, so that’s cool)

worst “performances”: Carr and Chiodos at WWWY. Both lip syncing, and Carr just suuuuucks. Blink 182 in Milwaukee wasn’t great, Tom was sick and they cut the set way short

biggest surprises: This Wild Life was really fun opening on 20 years of tears. The Academy Is on Holiday From Real cruise - haven’t seen them since 2005 and only listened to Almost Here, they killed it and I downloaded rest of their discography when I got back. Creed put on a solid show

Not a bad show, but the most underwhelming concert I went to this year was Incubus' Morning View show at MSG with Coheed opening. On paper it sounds like it should've been amazing, and my hype was through the roof for it. But come show day the crowd just wasn't too into Coheed, and Incubus were kinda stiff and lifeless on stage. Also there were sound issues for the first few songs where the volume was just too low.

Worst set I saw was Gret Van Fleet opening for Metallica. It was sooo boring.

A Smashing Pumpkins/Deftones co-headliner seems like a no-brainer. Both bands that have seen a resurgence due to interest from Gen Z.

Get them with some shoegazey opener like Loathe and you’re practically printing money

this is a few years out of date and no longer possible, but when Rage announced that tour with run the jewels, i always wished there was a way they could have snuck in both every time i die, and Fever 333 as openers, would have been a dream tour, and made a lot of sense

    current dream line ups
-Turnstile headliner with glassjaw, drain, better lovers
-Viagra boys / Amyl and the sniffers coheadliner with gel opening
-a jimmy eat world / gaslight anthem co headliner with sincere engineer opening

something like a punk rock lilith fair with like yeah yeah yeahs, garbage, st. vincent, amyl, scowl, linda lindas, winona fighters, bobby lees and could add plenty more if you really make it an all day thing... maybe get no doubt as the bona fide headliner to justify big venues

for me this was The Warning at Riot fest. i only saw them because the chisel canceled last minute and they were conflicting... im low-key thrilled the chisel canceled cuz that warning set was totally rad. also when filter opened up the freaks on parade tour, i wasnt expecting much as he is older now and opening bands on amphitheater tours always get the shaft, but they sounded fantastic, and he still has the pipes, was very pumped for that

All of this sounds amazing to me. But that Jimmy Eat World/Gaslight/Sincere Engineer tour would be perfection!
