I’ve honestly only recently heard of movers you can hire being a service offered by Uhaul. And when I just moved to Baltimore I used taskrabbit and hired local people just looking for any paid labor / work to load into my apartment, but I loaded the Uhaul up mostly myself with help with the furniture

we just moved back in July and we used movers since my wife was 6 months pregnant at the time. When we moved into our first house, we did not use movers and let me tell you that suuuuucked.

I think we paid $1,500 for the entire day for the movers (8a-5p), which included 3 guys and they also took a couple of our bulk items that we didn't want anymore for no additional cost.

Moving companies, are scams, and that used to really be the only way to hire moving help. If Uhaul has an actually fair rate for packing and unpacking your truck that’s different but the companies that bring their own truck are major scams and that used to be the reason why my family always moved ourselves and didn’t use movers (except Hawaii, we used movers for that)
