This really continues to feel like we are going through our own version of the 1930's. The well-known named gangsters from back then had a ton of popular support.

There is a ton of things that you can kind of make comparisons to that period of time and our current situation.

It was good but it made me desperately miss Matt. It’s very clear he’s more suited to both the content and the format than Felix is

Yeah Chapo always worked with Will being the Film/Journalism/Literary analysis guy, Felix being the TV/Video Games/internet culture/memes analysis guy, and Matt being the historical/political analysis guy. Also i guess Virgil when he was there was like their wonk/polls analysis guy. I guess they gotta change it up with Matt out of action.

Yeah. I get Felix has talked quite a bit about, and written about I think, conservative media and journalism, but he isn’t as good 1) solo 2) scripted as Matt was. Still interested though

I still listen to and enjoy Chapo, but yeah Matt being gone made me realize he was the heart and soul of that show's politics. It just doesn't hit as hard when it is just Will/Felix/Chris. This really was the first election cycle since 2016 where Chapo didn't really have a big presence on the internet left discourse. I think there are multiple reasons for that other than Matt's absence though.

I can see it now - 4 republicans decide to vote against Hegseth, only for Fetterman to break with the dems to be the vote that puts him through

Think I would probably agree with you that it definitely has more that timeframe and then say pieces of the 1930's.

Feel like the increase in fascism and the seemingly potential for popular support of vigilantes takes from the 30's. If we end up getting a "War on Crime" during the Trump's term then that is another 30's piece.

To be fair I think a lot of that has to do with the collapse of the Twitter left. After 2020 people kinda realized that no matter how much of an online following there was for left wing accounts, it didn’t mean anything in the end. Naomi Klein’s new book has an interesting section about how words and ideas no longer have power
