1. Los Campesinos! - All Hell

Had never heard them before this year, what a consistently rich and rewarding catalogue. But this is far and away their masterpiece.

2. MJ Lenderman - Manning Fireworks

Every song is a gem and different moments stand out each listen.

3. Origami Angel - Feeling Not Found

Currently the band on top of the pop punk power rankings. Title track may be their best song yet.

4. Super American - Gangster Of Love

Melodic mixture of 90s pop rock and pop punk goodness. Pitchfork may be the best song of the year.

5. Foxing - Foxing

Torchbearers for dark, aggressive, proggy, experimental emo. Hell 99 and Gratitude are absolutely blistering in the best way.

6. Father John Misty - Mahashmashana

The thinking man's Pure Comedy, title track and Screamland are epics.

7. Wishy - Triple 7

"Define indie rock"

8. Restorations - Restorations

A great comeback from the underappreciated dad-punk stalwarts.

9. Kendrick Lamar - GNX

Keeps getting better and will likely climb this list in the future.

10. Hot Water Music - VOWS

Honestly their best album, 30 years in.

Cheekface album us great, my 5 year old loves Popular 2 and Don't Stop Believing which are both in my 20 or so fav songs of the year.

 

Dangerous Summer record is hit or miss but I'd still count it as a return to form. Hoping it is like the self titled where it is a good record with some classics that precedes the actual classic album.
