Id find it hard to opt out of making 51mil a year for basically the rest of my career but theres every chance he walks at 31 if he can get another bag and the mets havent done anything worth staying for.

  3. I never said that - really we are all in the same boat - brewers are about to lose two of their four best players cuz they can’t afford them

He's going to opt out to work for me because I can pay in experience which is the best payment one can receive

Memories are nice, but that's all they are. Prestigious

Teams can absolutely afford players, their owners are just cheap

At first the deferred money thing was like "weird but okay"

Then it started to get kinda annoying for baseball as a whole

Now I think it's looped back around to be funny cuz at this point they're doing it just to be dicks, it's great

do you think they have a gun to every free agent head saying you better take some deferred money

I think a lot of it is CA tax stuff but I also think they're suggesting to people "hey what if we defer $5 so we can make another headline for fun"

I bet they're deferring for stadium staff for the hell of it

  11. Yeah that’s what I mean - I’m not a fan of the brewers owner at all - he’s a cheap skate

but I’m not holding my breath that a hedge fund manager billionaire will ever buy the brewers lol

it also helps the ownership group is probably never selling since they know the dodgers worth

imagine having to tell future owners hey you got a lot of deferred contracts they be like yikes

obviously so much more went into it but its kinda hilarious to frame it as "oh all we had to do was just invite him to our house??"

article also states that the red sox knew they were out saturday, and the yankees were leading for a long time at 15 years/$712.50m until Cohen jacked up his offer, and even though the report came out that the Yankees wouldnt necessarily be given the chance to match or exceed, Boras did go to the Yankees yesterday evening for a final bid, and they submitted the 16/$760m offer.

RE: Soto - Obviously disappointed, but the contract size entered the crazy money territory that I figured it would with Cohen in the mix and I'm less upset than I thought I would be.

I am alternating between being annoyed at Soto for not wanting to stay on MY FAVORITE SPORTS TEAM (how dare he) for what was a fairly comparable offer and being annoyed with the Yankees for not shaving a year off and giving him the extra 5 mill to match the Mets. But then Cohen probably would've gone up anyway, so it is what it is.

He's overpaid for his skillset, but good for him for getting as much as he could. Hope he never wins another game

Boras trying to make it seem like it’s not about the money is funny lol

nobody is making it seem like its not about the money, he chose the mets because of the offer, but i think it means more that he did not choose the illustrious world famous wonderful yankees when the difference was ultimately pennies on the dollar when youre making that much money.

We can only hope that he regrets his decision quickly and asks for a trade when the Mets don't make the playoffs for the next 3 seasons
