I will never forget the first time I hit play on These Four Walls and heard Thunder & Lightning.

I’ve seen them a whole bunch and always loved them. Really couldn’t get into Enjoy the View (their most recent album from 2021) but have loved the rest of their discography and still worth checking out!

The band is super cool too. They did a cameo for my brother’s birthday like 6-7 years ago and the singer’s whole family sang happy birthday to him lol

 

Yeah, I had spent the afternoon cleaning out my garage in the first nice day in a month here in Iowa, and they just triggered in my head, and when I finally saw the band name I knew....and when that opening riff of Quiet Little Voices hit I got the biggest smile on my face. My wife gave me the weirdest look.

I was trying to figure out how I'd explain "they're like The National but with the song structure of Minus the Bear, but with a super scottish singer, but totally not Frightened Rabbit"

I used to do all these 3-4hr late night drives back from kayaking, and after I'd do an hour of Explosions in the Sky or some other non-lyric band, I needed something that'd move me along, and they were it for a solid year or two.

This is awesome.

 

It drives me CRAZY when I think of a riff/melody of a song and cannot for the life of me place it haha

That's awesome though, Quiet Little Voices is such a good song

 

Its the kind of thing you think AI would solve, but nope. And Quiet Little Voices was the song I was triggering in my head...but its like 5x chorus and minimal verse, so when I couldn't remember the lyrics, I was striking out. Google actually getting me to Frightened Rabbit (who I also used to love) is what got me there...because hilariously on Spotify, Frightened Rabbit -> Little Green Cars -> Sea Wolf (who was a backing track to easily 20% of my kayaking videos) -> We Were Promised Jetpacks is a "fans might also like" path you can follow.

I argue with people in the wrestling thread and its the guy writing a Bella sisters article and someone else making the championship belts

 

Quite frankly, I need AI to tap into my brain and be like "google, serve me a band that feels as fresh as Anberlin - Never Take Friendship Personal did to my newly pop-punk initiated brain" and it gives me something modern yet benign that feels fresh. Or maybe Olivia Rodrigo already is that.
