The effects are great but the story and characters are so poorly constructed. It’s also very sincere, there’s a part near the end that was cracking me up but I don’t think it was a joke.

it definitely feels like it was written in the 60’s, because it was, so if you like that style of adventure movie you’ll probably like it. Very faux nostalgic.

I thought Here was bad, and it is, but Afraid is offensively and aggressively bad. Truly the worst film of the year and one of the worst I’ve seen in a long time.

 

Rewatching Smile to prep for watching the sequel soon. Man, everything about this flick is so unnerving and genuinely chills me to the bone. Hearing that a majority of folks think the sequel is better has me SO excited.

 

That's a great way to skirt around a tight/non-existent VFX budget

Decided to put those Last Drive-In eps off until the 23rd (new Christmas special is next week). Currently watching They Look Like People, then Monkeybone, then finishing Phantom of the Paradise

 

They Look Like People fucked me up when it first came out. fantastic movie but I don't think I could watch it again

 

showing my friends Lisa Frankenstein, we got about halfway through, they seem to be really enjoying it. this is my first "mystery pick." keep in mind these are the same group who thought Hush, The VVitch, and Watcher were too scary. nothing inherently wrong with that, obv, that's just where their limits are, and tbf those films are genuinely scary. so i'm trying to keep things lighter. they've put up with me showing them increasingly scary films over two years so i think it's time to go back to having fun with it

 

I didn’t watch yet, but I downloaded it yesterday just because I like Virginia Gardner and hoped it’d at least be entertaining. Lol
