Is COBRA still necessary? I thought you could sign up for ACA insurance temporarily as soon as your employment ends.

I have specialists, and medical conditions. Without insurance through work, I would not be in the better position I am in now.

    Im glad I have insurance.

The thing I am dealing with insurance now is why does a prior authorization have an expiration date? Prescription and dosage has not changed but from what I understand now is that it seems like once a year I am going to have to jump through this hoop of getting PA's done to get my ADHD meds.

Also fuck my prescription insurance because their automated phone line is absolute ass. Had to call them three times to finally get it to connect me to a live person to actually talk to.

Seems like a lotttt of (mostly older) dems are panicking and thinking it's electoral death to be a Dem because they mostly don't want to realize it's a mix of 1. Unpopularity among young people due to Israel, 2. Inflation, and a smaller part 3. Being seen as too beholden to corporate interests. Those first 2 are very easy to fix or not be blamed for anymore!

I also slightly wonder if he already got the heads up from the State Party would not be one of their preferred candidates and he is doing this as a middle finger to them.

The current state chair has some ties to Whitmer though she is stepping down from that role and the current front runner is a current or former aide to Whitmer. My guess here is Whitmer wants someone from her cabinet to win the nomination whether its the State AG or the Secretary of State.

I know that is exactly what it is, then on top of it it's because I refuse to take the generic for it after trying it a few times and getting some side effects that I do not have with the name brand.

I’m gonna lose my health insurance at the new years because my employer requires a certain amount of hours on average to be considered full time and my managers either didn’t schedule me or called me off on slow days for the entire quarter so I have no chance of hitting the threshold. Awesome system!

This is infuriating. I've got a guy who's immunotherapy is the only thing keeping him alive but it flared up his psoriasis. I literally wrote to his insurance that if he doesn't get his psoriasis med he will have to stop his immunotherapy and then will die. Still got denied.

Yup I used to get yearly approvals for dupixent then outta the blue they changed it to six months without telling me or the patient. We restarted the whole process and the patient missed two months of his shot and now his eczema is back worse than ever. Assholes.

lol...of all the CEOs where the general mood of "yeah I don't feel bad about that" is going to cross party lines, health insurance company CEO has to be at the top of the list.

Maybe some right wing folks will be more private in their celebrations over it, but yeah

assuming you’re in a restaurant? When I was serving full-time during college Cheesecake Factory did something similar.

Once it became law that the employer had to offer insurance, Cheesecake put a metric in place that said you needed to maintain 32hrs/week. If you’ve ever worked as a server you know 32hrs is pretty damn hard to achieve without doing doubles twice a week (shifts average 4-5hrs for dinner).

they made it so majority of front of house employees were unable to qualify, and those that did qualify quickly had their schedules cut.

    fucking scam.

I’m employed by a hotel but work in a restaurant so yeah same thing. Happened to me when I worked at yard house too many years ago. Back to the marketplace I guess

You can have all that with universal health care and without profit driving everything in the medical industry.
