I reconnected with a friend i went to high school with recently, and he works at Home Depot. When we were catching up and he was asking what i do for work, he said “oh you’re the guy in the videos we watch” lol apparently Home Depot goes hard

 

yeah you have to watch them like twice a year and they make the union reps out to be like creeps that stalk you at work, it’s so pathetic and laughable.

 

I also distinctly remember during my training, working one of my first jobs that was at an event staffing place, that is contracted with the Broncos and Nuggets/Avs to work at their stadiums, to never sign a union card if approached!

 

I mostly just hang out with people on their smoke breaks

lol shame or hypocrisy just isn’t a thing he feels. If you still think you can play by norms with these people just get out of politics because you don’t want to be in the fight. and it is good that at least a couple liberal judges are recognizing they are part of the political fight now.

I meant to reply to this earlier but I fell asleep.

While China certainly has the advantage in terms of military size and strength, the real question would be whether or not invasion ships can get those people and supplies onto Taiwan in a frequent manner. Taiwan’s invasion-friendly beaches are so small that China might need a large chain of invasion fleets. These fleets would not only have to successfully cross the Strait and make it ashore but also operate continuously and undisturbed for weeks to deploy enough soldiers to overcome Taiwan’s defenses.

"By themselves, Taiwan's beaches and coastal airports are too small to land enough [People's Liberation Army] troops, tanks, and supplies to secure a solid lodgment ashore," Easton wrote. "Because these sites lack purpose-built infrastructure for unloading large transports and because they occupy inherently exposed positions, PLA researchers fear that Chinese landing forces could be encircled on the beaches, showered with defensive fires, and overrun by Taiwanese counterattacks." [1]

A recent war games conducted by the US showed that unless China wanted to risk going straight into Taiwan’s largest area of defense, it would go from towards the South. If Chinese forces did gain a foothold in the south, the resulting campaign would look like Italy in the Second World War, with Chinese and Taiwanese troops fighting "river line by river line, ridge line by ridge line.”

Alternately, in simulations of an attack on the north, where most of Taiwan's defenses are, "it ends up being a huge battle outside of Taipei" Cancian said, adding that it would be "tough" for China to capture the city. [2]

Without knowing exactly what the US, Japan, and others will do to disrupt a chain of fleets in the Strait, it’s basically impossible to know what the exact battles would like it. One thing is certain and that is that Taiwanese beaches would be incredibly bloody.

85% of NK’s infrastructure was either destroyed or damaged by the end of the war compared to around 20% of SK’s infrastructure. It was insane. Bruce Cuming’s ‘The Korean War’ is the best read regarding this, imo. Incredibly depressive, but highly informative.

NK did bounce back moderately well thanks to its five-year economic plan, support from China/USSR, and a population boom in the late 50s/60s, so hats off to them for that. However, due to its lack of major innovated industries to keep it competitive and its over-reliance on foreign aid, its economy slowly began to shrink starting in the late 70s. The collapse of the USSR resulted in quite a big economic famine. If the international community engaged after that it then the current state of NK could have been avoided, but I have no idea what those possibilities exactly looked like (if there were any).

I’m not 100% on this but NK does look to be pretty dry and cold, so it may have always had the issue of agriculture. If that’s the case, the international community has an obligation to assist in export of food to NK, ruthless dictator or not.

 

It always amazes me how many people simply can't comprehend allegory or nuance, or even just THEMES in general.
