As ever, you'll know better than me RE United.

    Hilarious goal. Great work Hojlund

Somehow the keeper is lucky there, if Garnacho or Hojlund doesn’t tap that in he’s getting sent off within a minute.

2 chances for them 2 goals. Nothing ever changes.

man, Malacia does not look close to fit.

Can we even say United have had a "honeymoon period"? lol

A team learning an entirely system on the fly while dealing with the injuries and players returning from fitness we’ve got was always going to make it a growing pains scenario.

My post was meant to be taken with tongue firmly in cheek, but yeah, the growing pains are going to be there for awhile yet as Amorim essentially said earlier this week.

Tonight will do Hojlund the world of good.

Robbie Savage is convinced we’ve switched to a back 4. We’ve changed nothing defensively at all since halftime.

Oh yeah, oh yeah, everything is terrible.

when Im looking for insightful and correct tactical analysis, he's #1 on my list!

We’ve actually played quite well today. Build up is way way way better than before the international break. Defensively set up looks strong (lol I know we’ve conceded two) but the players on the pitch don’t really suit it. Malacia just wasn’t fit enough to start, Licha is too slow to make up for that.

Literally within the first minute you could see that the LWB drops back to left back when in a defensive set. The big change at half time as been when the ball comes out left Dalot is inverting in the final third with Garnacho pulling wide. That might be a bit too much for Savage to see though.

Ah fuck I hope De Ligt isn’t injured.

looks more like a 'saving him for the weekend' sub than an injury one

No centre backs on the pitch though lol. 3 at the back with no centre backs is a bold bold choice

I’m sure it comes down to the quality here, but it’s very very weird seeing us actually hold onto possession well. 77% possession tonight. Never thought I’d see these players have those kinda numbers haha

Dalot mate what are you doing

Damn decent performance. Lots of positives. Lots of issues wrt the players involved and their tactical fit but not much can be done. Controlled a lot of that second half extremely well.

You can tell from what we’re seeing just how much damage ten Hag when he fully folded under pressure and stopped trying to adapt the squad to his game. Instead he implemented a hybrid of unclear tactics, style of play, philosophy that all led to a squad playing clueless and wandering football with no structure and no plan in place.

Genuinely at a place where the only thing that matters is an unwavering dedication to adapting Amorim’s system and a full commitment to buying in. Ruben’s quote about an extended period of risk taking to learn on the job being preferable to just trying to survive and having all the same issues next year was music to my ears.

Hojlund is so good in Europe. 8 goals in 10 games with us. This is the first time we’ve won a European game he scored in though
