Newsom has the best chance of winning, but I don't like any of them.

Of that group maybe but I think Newsom is going to run into the same issue that Kamala did and its the Rust Belt/Midwest associates any political candidate that comes from California as socialist/too far left. Even if we all know that this is not necessarily true.

It's been two weeks. This poll is meaningless; all it tells you is what names people recognize.

It will be interesting to see what dems in congress, governorships and elsewhere make a name for themselves and bring a rise to their national profile in the second age of Trump.

Harris was one of them that got a lot of attention with her questioning during the hearings for his nominees in the first term.

So far Pritzker, Beshear, Chris Murphy seem to be some early ones trying to capitalize on it and gain more recognition.

I'm on the JB train for now, assuming we won't get any credible further left candidates. Can understand the arguments for Beshear and Newsome, for very different reasons of course. Pete I could begrudgingly support, especially if he course corrects on his attempt to moderate out in the 2020 primary, just due to his ability to communicate well. But whatever it's 4 years away and I'm just trying to brace myself for how awful this is about to be.

There are going to be a good number of Dem governors who run - Newsom, Pritzker, Whitmer, Shapiro, Beshear, Moore - and I could see Gallego trying to pull an Obama and go from a short stint as a Senator to a presidential candidate.

Here in NC, Wiley Nickel is most likely going to try to run for Tillis' Senate seat in 2026 and is already trying to make a national name for himself with his "shadow cabinet" op-ed. I could see him trying to run on that same Obama trajectory if he gets the Senate.

I don't think America would tolerate a JB vs JD campaign.

Do you think Roy Cooper runs for senate? I feel like he'd be a lock to win the primary if he does. Though I admit I'm not familiar with Nickel on how popular he is in NC

Cooper could definitely win if he runs, but he'll also be 70 a few months after taking office and a few years older than Tillis. Of course that's never stopped anyone before, but I'm not sure that's what he or the electorate want.
