dating myself, but it implements so many systems from my fav game of all time, Ogre Battle 64. The SRPG side of the Ogre Battle saga is largely forgotten in the shadow of the TRPG side. It's a spiritual successor to OB64 in so many ways, almost feels like a love letter.

 

Apparently blood and wine won best rpg almost a decade ago lol god people are so stupid if a dlc is better than most full games it should be up for whatever

I loved Astro Bot. The rest except Wukong seem awesome too.

 

I added some games to my wishlist a while ago that looked interesting. Sundered is $3 right now. I'm... not entirely sure what it is?

 

Not giving all the awards to dragon age simply to spite the incel losers certainly feels like a wasted opportunity. especially with there being no truly great games this year.

 

dragon age definitely should’ve gotten more than just accessibility, but it 100% deserves to win that category

Tons of great games this year, many I’ve yet to play but look fantastic and a few I’ve gotten my hands on and mostly like or love. Dragons dogma 2 was a bit of a disappointment due to performance issues and just a real lack of that “it” factor most other capcom franchises have. It took the blueprint of the original and updated it without expanding on it or giving it a stronger identity. Missed opportunity. Veilguard should’ve gotten the rpg nod instead.

 

Metroidvania.

 

Also black myth doesn’t look all that great when it comes to gameplay, graphics are undeniable but given the comments made by the people at that studio it’s an “avoid unless somebody literally gives it to me” much like a certain other game (that, coincidentally, did not get any GOTY nominations itself last year)

 

Weird, there hasn’t been any truly great music or movies or tv shows either. Awful year. Not a single great thing and we’re in November.

 

ppl are also describing it as a rogue? so it's like a Dead Cells?

 

There's been so much fantastic stuff this year I legitimately don't understand

 

More Metroidvania than rogue. The only randomized bits are the passages between areas, and you get permanent upgrades.

 

Last time a truly great game came out
