I’m kind of drunk rewatching Live at the Troxy and it’s tripping me out how young everyone they interview is. I feel like half of them would’ve been like 2 years old when I was drunk riding my bike around college listening to Romance is Boring.

really makes me feel like they could carry on being a full time a band again if they wanted

 

I need to watch that this weekend

 

Pretty great interview with Gareth from the new ex-Pitchfork site, Hearing Things. Gets really into the nitty gritty of their finances, what it's like to be in an indie band past 30, etc.

Loved this part:

"It means a lot to me when fans talk about how, as our albums have progressed, what we’ve been singing about has remained relevant to them at that point in their life. And the amount of people that have continued to say that with All Hell has been one of the things I’ve been most proud of about it. When people are reacting to the lyrics, there’s a mixture of all-caps posts by the younger fans, and then somebody in their early 40s just being like, “Why’d you have to do me like this, Gareth?”

Yup same here. And the album wasnt really on my radar before it released

 

This year has spoiled me to the point where I don't even know how to place my top ten. But it's seeming like this has to be number one for me. Gets better every time I revisit it.

 

It's getting even better now that the wind is cooling. hearing those opening strums already feels nostalgic

 

I don’t think any song stretch this year will best Feast for Tongues -> 0898 HEARTACHE for me, just an exercise in constantly outdoing themselves

 

i wanted to do an in-depth thing on this album for my newsletter (which you can read here) but I just want to say how much I appreciate the moment of silence right at the start of Coin-Op Guillotine and how simulates the feeling of a "hypnic jerk". it's such a cool moment and show's how intentional they were with the songwriting.

 

These are all great but I really love this version of Moonstruck

 

I was about to say WOW that a new EP is out, then realized it's just the deluxe tracks of the album repackaged

 

Moonstruck was the one song on this album that didn't do much for me for a while, but it really grew on me over time, partially thanks to this version.

 

So Wait is new?!

 

It’s a Secret Stars cover. Death Cab also covered it on their first record

 

And is the song they reference on Spit/Bite Mark!

 

Loved Moonstruck from the first listen mainly because of the outro stanza.
Only song that I don't think quite stacks up to the rest is Order of the Seasons.
