I think my favorite post-2016 punk album is Joy As An Act of Resistance by IDLES. And they're British. Doesn't seem to be much of a punk scene or ethos in the US right now.

Sometimes I do think on politics, am I wrong? Are my left wing views and analysis really right? Maybe I’m just as uninformed. We’re all in our lil thought bubbles with our own views and maybe there’s a little truth in all our opinions?

then I’ll talk with my liberal brother and uncle and they’ll repeat all the dumb shit i already know they think and know that I am in fact correct. wherever you sit on the left wing of the political spectrum you more than likely see the field better than the people to the right of you. It’s weird. They just don’t know cause they have their backs to you and are facing rightward.

 

I guess I am basically technically a SocDem, but I sometimes think the only things separating me from "tankies" is 1) Although I am probably smarter than the medium American voter I still feel like I am too dumb and lazy to understand and read a lot of Theory. 2) I just find it more practical to settle a society that somewhat answers people's material problems that is at least kind of realistically achievable in the comparative short term under current conditions even though doesn't 100% align with what I envision and truly want in my soul for perfect classless hierarchy free society to be.

Tankie in my heart, socdem in my brain. I think that describes a lot of modern western leftists I guess.
