You know dudes family has been here for a long time because clearly they were a family with no surname, possibly an immigrant, and the town they lived in would refer to them as to where they lived, “up the grove”, and it just became their surname

A couple of things to observe is that

1. this election may have been an “electoral landslide” but with a 1.5% difference in popular vote, that’s still a pretty close race (obviously, should still not have been been a close, nevermind the fact that she lost)

2. The claims people kept spewing online that Trump didn’t grow his voter base at all and Harris lost because 15 million Dem voters sat the election out was a very premature claim with a lot of votes still uncounted. It’s roughly 6 million less for Harris and 4 million more for Trump compared to 2020. So dems not only need to win back those that stayed home, but win back the ones that went to Trump.

 

I talked this this friend last night. She is thinking about buying a gun for the first time because she talked all this shit online about this violent Proud Boy asshole in our town after he got arrested by the feds, and now he is probably going to get pardoned and he knows who she is.

Have no idea if this guy is credible and would like to see it reported by someone I know/trust but I would not be surprised this is true. The city governments and political leaders have been definitely been on their book banning and targeting LGBTQ folks kick the past few years.

 

And one of the biggest and best punk bands and albums from that era ended up being fronted by one of the biggest pieces of shit. That really took a bite out of it all in a brutal way for me.

Punk as being the political music of the youth is basically dead anyway. So that hope that we get a bunch of new Reagan Youths, or A Million Dead Cops, Propaghandis, or someone will write a new "John Wayne Was A Nazi" is long gone.

The political genre of Gen Z is now Vaporware. No lyrics, no IRL community building. Just YouTube videos, beats, and vibes over photoshopped agitprop..

Diaspora Problems by Soul Glo, while not always explicitly political, is the only album that effectively captured the anger of the last decade for me.

 

I got really into political folk punk during the period. Mostly Pat The Bunny, most of his best political songs were written during the Obama administration though. He actually quit the punk scene in 2016.
