yeah I'm reading the post again and realizing I kinda missed the point the first time - I was thinking mathematically when the point was that Democrats weren't going to win this because they're Democrats and they just can't stop Democrating

I think if Biden had announced a year earlier that he wasn't going to run (or, ideally, after the 2022 midterms when the dems lost the House and couldn't get anything done) then it definitely could've gone differently, even for Kamala.

I did see the data that the swing states moved less to the right than the rest of the country did, generally speaking, so something about the campaign was working even if it was just them having a billion dollars and blasting people with ads, but I'm not sure there was enough time to really drive it home.

I mean yes to the Ben Wikler thing, but that chart clearly shows it wasn't just Wisconsin. The next 3 states are all swing states and those are not insignificant margins given how close each of those states ended up being.

I've been seeing a lot of those "you reap what you sow" comments on my social media feeds and hate them so much.

If the party is serious about winning voters back, the message should be that they're going to fight in every way they can to make sure the worst things that Trump wants don't come to pass.

I almost admire David for just pushing through and trying to do “economy good” posting still even though it pisses all of us off to no end

I strongly disagreed with the sentiments & argument before the election, but it seems so pointless right now

unless we're just getting primed to vote Democrat in 2028, in which case this is the most important election of our lifetimes, and I just need you to send $20

That's so funny they think she's focus on an issue she never talked about for people she was willing to throw under the bus.

They really couldn't have run this worse and she still had a shot to win. Imagine if they were 1% more competent.

this is, in my opinion, dems capitulating to the GOP and letting them control the conversation when it comes to cultural issues like trans rights and not linking it to class and material conditions. It's not that she focused on it (her response was actual awful in that one interview about "following the law"), it's that they ran from it and and let Trump run the Charlemagne ad without response instead of sticking a stake in the ground saying this is what we believe in and guess what, your wages, your grocery bill, your affordable housing affect them just as much as it affects you and we're trying to improve those things for everyone.
