The scene in Tampa now is really heavy in Post-/Doom/Sludge/Stoner Metal. I saw my friend's Doom Metal band play a show on Halloween and it absolutely ripped.

 

I have some catching up to do, so my bad if any of the numerous posters smarter and more eloquent than me already highlighted this remark and explained how wild it is.

Ignoring the fact that choosing to stay away from the topic of genocide is inherently pro-genocide, Harris didn’t do that! Any time Israel/ Palestine was the topic at hand, she never missed the opportunity to voice support for Israel’s “right to defend itself”, which given her role in the Biden admin and her own refusal to break from his policies in any meaningful way, people had every reason to infer that as pledging continued, unconditional use of American tax dollars to fund Israel’s extermination campaign.

She dismissed protests of the genocide as antisemitic, smugly shut down people at her rallies for calling her out, refused to let anyone from the Uncommitted movement speak at the DNC, collected endorsements from war criminals like Pokémon cards, and had fucking Bill Clinton flown last-minute into Michigan to shame Arab-Americans about not wanting to vote for her.

Meanwhile, any rhetoric from Harris designed to signal empathy towards Palestinians was delivered in platitudes, often within the same breath as “Israel’s right to defend itself”.

What are people meant to take from all that other than she doesn’t think it’s bad Israel is doing a genocide and that, in fact, it’s in her interest to keep it going? Calculus or not, that’s evil, and blaming others for not falling neatly in line to back her in spite of it is not productive.

 

I don’t even know if we have a local music scene anymore. I know local bands exist but they mostly seem middle age bands. I never hear any of my students talk about being in bands anymore. Lots of rappers/decent rap scene from what I’ve heard, but i don’t listen to much rap anymore so way far removed from that hah. I don’t even know if the young rappers put on live shows anymore, I feel like they just put it on their socials and YouTube

 

Liking pop punk and emo in New Jersey is sooooo hard guys. You don’t know the struggle

 

especially in New Brunswick. Probably impossible to find a good emo show there

Houston hardcore scene has been thriving as of late and that’s about all we got going here atm

Gainesville though as many you guys probably know because of FEST has always been the epicenter of Florida's scene and probably the biggest punk scene in the entire south really.

Miami also has always had a great Hardcore scene.

I always felt spiritually New Jersey. I like pop-punk. I like comic books. I like pro wrestling. I like diners. I am Italian.

 

I made a take on Twitter replying to someone and I said "basically everyone who has been POTUS or ran for POTUS has been a sociopath. You have to be even get to that position"

Someone replied to me "umm JFK wasn't a sociopath though". I almost felt outta my chair.

Me too. In high school most of my peers liked more of the independent punk bands meanwhile I liked pop punk and Blink 182 was my favorite band. I connected more with those in a few different Blink forums.
