If you don’t think her refusing to endorse Harris and calling Biden a genocidaire or whatever didn’t hurt Harris, I don’t know what to tell you. I definitely did not treat them as two sides of the same coin. They are not!

There are progressive candidates who pass legislature and get things done. AOC and Bernie are quick and easy examples.

 

Voters in her specific district, yes. And instead of bringing them along she created a ton of daylight in a closely contested, short race. My point stands!

I don't think it was limited only to Tlaib's district though - I think the results show that voters all around the country were broadly supportive of progressive ideas and utterly and completely rejected Harris

Tlaib should be celebrated for sticking to her convictions, refusing to endorse, getting a strong message to her constituents, and winning more votes than Harris, and if we had more Tlaib's raising red flags to the campaign this may have turned out differently.

 

I think that was Tlaib having moral clarity. Biden is a genocidaire, more Dems should have been saying it. The non-endorsement may not have helped Harris, but she mortally wounded herself by ignoring the “base” so i don’t think Tlaib endorsing her makes an iota of difference in the outcome of this election.

I don’t know if you paid attention at all to the 2016 and 2020 primaries, but “he doesn’t get things done!” was one of the primary lines of attack from liberals about Bernie. If Tlaib cannot “get things done” on the issues that I most support her on (healthcare, debt forgiveness, Palestine, etc.) that’s not a problem with her - that’s just another reason why the Dems are not a party that deserves or wants my support. Bernie and AOC sucked up to the Dems these past several years and in exchange, what have they “gotten done” that’s worth giving a shit about? All they’ve done is sacrificed their credibility and moved portions of their supporters to the right.

For that matter, when you say “progressives who pass legislation and get things done” can you provide examples of what legislation they got passed? I’m pretty sure, like, all of the things Bernie and AOC earned their base of supporters on have been stalled out in Congress for years.

Finally: The Democrats as a Party were also too racist to let a Palestinian elected Dem speak at their convention. Maybe they don’t want to work with a Palestinian in Congress for the same reasons?
