When Trump first got elected, I really thought that would have been enough to get SOAD to finally do a new album. John being a hardcore Trumper makes me wonder if he'd do one with them now lol. Then we had RATM reuniting right before Covid hit, thought maybe something would materialize there but no.

Re rent control, here’s good news from my side of the country (sorry) Hoboken residents preserve rent control rules in landslide vote

 

I try to imagine how I would feel and what actions I would want to take if I had a younger brother who told me that he looks up to and admires Andrew Tate,or if I had a younger sister who went to ASU and told me she voted for trump because he is against abortion bans

because my gut instinct is to just write these people off as dumb fucking idiots, but I probably wouldn't just do that quickly to a younger sibling, and that instinct doesn't actually help us get anywhere as a country

 

We can control what my son watches now obviously but I am concerned what happens when he turns into a teenager and starts doing things on his own on the net. I think we're both pretty dead set on not getting him a smart phone until his later teen years but that's still so far off that idk.

 

Someone posted that tweet yesterday and it’s like either 1) half the country is irredeemable or 2) half the country needs to be won back/over, and I can do something about only one of those things so I’ll choose the one that’s actionable, and that’s my perspective

 

as their teacher, what Tier of The Real World University did you encourage them to sign up for? did you tell them to ease into things and start off as Cadets, or that they should go big or go home and start off as Heroes?

no one wants to hear this but Mayo Pete has proven himself pretty good at explaining things in a digestible manner for people and also has a sense of humor...he also gives off nerd vibes however lol

 

My county is one of the southern counties that voted blue for President. 2nd time in a row in the last 74 years.

But...interestingly enough, majority of the counties local elections went to Republicans. I find that fascinating.

Oh that also goes to my theory that part of the reason why some politicians are so bad at that stuff is they don't actually know a lot about most policy and thus aren't comfortable explaining it in any way. For people like Trump it's easy because he just bullshits the entire thing and people buy it, but for a politician whose specialty was criminal law, do we think Harris could give a good explanation on how a health care initiative will help more people than it hurts or etc? Probably not. Bernie wasn't going into super specifics on policy either but he knew enough to explain very easily how something would help common people and how the rich were exploiting the current policy and etc.

 

For anyone in here thinking about doing political streaming: I guess this isn't a thing until you make it big, but the thing Hasan does that is absolutely genius that i think helped him get to the next level is that he doesn't give a fuck about fans using and reposting his content. He refuses to copyright strike fan channels that repost clips from his stream on Youtube. He sees it as his community giving him free publicity while being able to profit from it themselves. It is mutually beneficial, it helps him and it helps his fans. He had fans thank him at college Palestine protests for helping them pay for their tuition by allowing them to monetize his content on Youtube.

Honestly they should be lol. Their entire worldview is pretty thoroughly discredited at this point, and there’s no way to regain legitimacy. Thankfully I can think of a way forward beyond liberalism that can combat Trump…
