lmfao my dad called my older brother and apparently started going off on trump and told him he voted Kamala and it’s the first time he’s ever voted democrat and then told him a story about when he was a kid and told his dad he liked what MLK was saying and his dad threw him up against a wall why am I entirely unsurprised he didn’t say any of this to me but I’m dying this might legitimately be the only man a Cheney and bush endorsement worked on

Imagine if they said we hear you all that things are more expensive for you. Here’s all the things we want to to do to help. And we hear you that you won’t tolerate arming Israel while they commit war crimes. If the war isn’t resolved when I become president I will condition all aid to Israel.
I think it’s clear now that the “not Trump” angle wasn’t going to work this time. People were obviously not happy with the status quo and she did nothing to even acknowledge that.

Ya'll I am spiraling. I know that as a straight white male in Colorado I am probably fine from Trump's policies, but I am so worried about the environmental impact this is going to have. Again, not that Biden/Harris have been great or good even, but I can't help but give into the doomerism of the de-regulation that's about to happen

Yeah Fox News appearances where he brought his facts and numbers showing that people are actually doing great really helped

I said this last night but removing environmental regulations takes time and there’s lengthy processes (unless you’re the Supreme Court and you legislate from the bench). What we saw last time was he was incredibly sloppy, and a lot of his attempts got overturned and held up in courts. I could see that happening again. Now if he has Congress and the Supreme Court and can do it through legislation, that’s way scarier.

I can't stop thinking about he 5 million children of undocumented immigrants who are going to either have their families ripped apart or be deported and go to the concentration camps as well if Trump ends birthright citizenship.

One of the few elections where the third party votes impacted the race, in the Dems favor in this one.

Interesting that there was more third party vote for the Senate race then there was for the Presidential.

As a history nerd I just can't think of any example in history of a mass deportation or forced movement of millions of people that didn't end up becoming a shameful atrocity.

Trail of Tears. Armenian Genocide. Nakba. Partition of India. Even the Holocaust originally started as a mass deportation plan initially.

Living in a rural area really puts this election into perspective. These mouthbreathers are practically foaming at the mouth for Trump. Lots of posts about God and being blessed and shit. Just fucking insane. An empire in decay

Small little bright spot I’m focusing on today:

We had a very safe, well liked Dem up for re-election in the state house this year. Three term guy. Seemed likable enough. Made a vaguely non committal comment about potentially not supporting a push to codify abortion access in the state. Wound up getting primaried by a young progressive woman. She won the primary overwhelmingly and soundly defeated her Republican opponent yesterday.

I would feel a lot better right now if the Dems had the senate. There is only so much trump could do without congress and that would make it very hard for him to get anyone extreme in his cabinet. Now, he basically has free reign to appoint anyone he wants to his cabinet, probably worse names than we saw in 2016 (if that is even possible), so that's very scary to me. If the dems can somehow squeak out the house, at least tha'll make it much harder for them to pass any major conservative legislation.
