I went to check on a friend’s cat last night after people left our apartment watching the results, and i smoked a cigarette and listened to Tom Waits on their porch. Felt good.

 

They are but could be afraid to speak up. I don't post in this thread for a reason.

 

There is it's just....very ugly and possibly violent. Basically flooding all the meetings, protesting them, being as rowdy as humanly possible until they give up their posts and call for elections.

It won't be successful right away because you'll get the party loyalists that know how to do the jobs quit them out of "solidarity" with their old bosses. But it is possible...it'd just take a lot of organization and sustained action.



This post may or may not be influenced by me reading a book with many chapters about the actions being taken by colonists in the lead up to the Revolutionary War lol

Well yeah that's the problem, that it dies when something like that happens. The successful movements in our history met that violence with even more protests, either peacefully (Civil rights for the most part) or...not so peacefully (labor). There could be a metaphorical "body count" to it, if not a real one.

That being said, I can't see protests at Dem Party meetings getting THAT out of hand. Police escorts and stuff for sure, some police violence if the protestors push through them, but yeah I don't think we'd get pullman strike levels of violence, at least not right away. If it persisted for months without change, then yeah I could see frustrations boil over for sure.

Maybe I’m hope pilled right now, but it’s actually more likely to be far more boring than that. Depending on where you are, you could show up and run for a local officer seat (chair, secretary, treasurer, etc) and win with about 20-50 votes at your next local democratic chapter election. Just come to meetings, offer people something different, and speak up at meeting about needing change, and this is the opportune time to make it happen.

same with the tea party and trumpers, they ran local candidates and coordinated getting crazies into city councils and school districts and other seats by showing up despite party leaders trying to shut down them taking over.
